I don’t want mine noticeable so I keep them to where they never show. I have one on my front hip, a small one on my left lower back, and one is going on my lower right side next month.

I have one on my upper middle back. I like the placement because it’s mostly hidden, but I can show it off if I want to.

I considered my calves for a short while but I didn’t like the idea of never being able to wear shorts or dresses to work again.

I have an amazing thigh piece that I’m working on, then a rose on my calf. For the sake of anonymity, I avoid posting pics of my tats online. My best piece of advice though is to make sure the design fits the space. Getting something small and cute on your thigh won’t look as good as having it on your ankle, for example.

Another thing to keep in mind! I absolutely love my thigh piece. It’s not done yet, but it’s my favorite tattoo so far. It’s beautiful. Problem is, I’m a jeans and a tshirt kinda gal. No one can see it unless I’m wearing shorts or skirt and even then, I have to lift it up to see the whole thing. Many times I want to show it off, but can’t because I’m wearing pants. In some circumstances, I don’t care, we’ll go in the bathroom and I’ll show them. Other times, you just can’t. So, if you want to be able to easily show it off, you may want to rethink your thigh.

One more! Like a PP mentioned, having a tattoo on your calf will limit what you can wear if you’re somewhere that they can’t be visible. When I’m at work or going for an audition, something where I have to wear a skirt, I use an athletic wrap to keep it covered, otherwise I can only wear pants. That is one thing I wish I’d thought of before getting that one.

I have an ankle tattoo, and I have regreted it’s lack of ability to be covered at times, so I would say higher is better.  If mine was hidden in shorts, I’d be much happier.  I work in a professional field, and it’s just not fitting in my position to be showing.

mrstaylortobe:  All of mine are hidden as I work in the business field and people definitely look down on you for it, but my Maid/Matron of Honor has a huge one on her thigh, I think it looks pretty awesome
