Perhaps it depends on how nice the tushy in question is?  They are kind of like yoga pants with a tight ankle, not a flared ankle, in concept at least.

I couldn’t do it unless I had a dress covering me!

My sister is tall and slim and she wears the lululemon wunder unders as pants – they’re leggings but in a thicker material – and it looks fine. Not many people can pull it off but it depends.

Leggings are pants. What’s the difference between wearing leggings and yoga pants? They have the exact same fit other than the fit at the bottom of your legs. No one complains about walking out of the house in yoga pants.

when I wear leggings, my long shirt or dress always covers the ass or at least 90% of it. Let’s be honest, most of us don’t have an ass that should be showing in spandex in public LOL

Leggings? Like the nylon sheer ones? or the stretchy cloth ones? Either way, if its semi see through or leaves minimal to the imagination, a sweater dress/long top/tunic/dress needs to be on top! Cover the butt and the hoohoo area! No need to see those!

I hate the flesh colored leggings. They freak me out.

@missporkchops:  If they are see though, they aren’t leggings. They are tights or stockings.

So I’m a little guilty… I bought jeggings hoping to have something other than black leggings to pair with tunics.  When they came, they were made of denim, completely opaque, and were relatively loose around my bum and thighs.  They have pockets with the metal pieces by the pockets, a metal zipper and metal button.

I asked my girlfriends their opinion and I got the “go ahead, those count as skinny jeans!”  I like pairing them with a bulky sweater or a flowey shirt with boots.

So I am guilty of wearing leggings as pants, but only because they look awful if I layer over them.

If you are thin (and have no butt) it looks perfectly fine. If you are not thin or have abooty then you look like a hooker.

Same with low cut blouses. Fine if you are flat chested, slutty if you have boobs.

I think everything just depends on if you have assets to show off

No. Just no. I don’t care what size your booty is, I don’t want to see it in leggings. I’m in college right now, and it’s like the college girl uniform.

No No No No No. Not pants.  I feel so strongly about leggins I cannot stand them.  If you wear them, go you, but please wear them correctly.

I hope someone posts the “are you wearing pants” flowchart.

@DeeVine1217:  +1 for the lululemon ones! I wouldn’t wear any old legging though… It’d have to be the right material. Like the lulus because they are thicker.

Leggings are pants.  There are so many options for leggings, and I think that they’re a wardrobe staple.

I mean, definitely not if they are see through. And outside of that, I think it is strange unless you are running to the store or exercising. I feel the same way about yoga pants for the record. They are really not meant to be worn as pants. They are meant for certain activities or under something else. I’ve seen too many girls who probably didn’t realize their leggings were see through until they got out in the daylight, so probably best to avoid.
