Hi Bees! So, my Fiance is planning on wearing his dress blues, which look like this:
And I honestly don’t have a dress picked out yet, but I know it will be white or ivory. I don’t like color in a wedding dress (I’m a weirdo).
Well, I was thinking how beautiful it would be to use the red accents from his uniform as the color of the bridesmaids’ dresses… But then I was curious.
Would it look like we’re trying to be patriotic or something? Not that we don’t love ‘Merica, but that’s not really the theme I’m going for here. It’s just that they’d be in red, I’d be in white, and he’d be in blue.

Since his blues are fairly dark, almost navy or black, it won’t look like a flag. If you don’t use bright blue accents, it will come across like red and white, not patriotic.

I agree, red will be fine! Also- if your husband is an officer (dark belt) either white or ivory will look beautiful 🙂 But if he’s enlisted, I’ve found that ivory looks a bit dingy imo next to the bright white of the belt! (We got married before he enlisted, but I saw an ivory colored dress I thought about wearing to the ball and it wasn’t cutting it for me!)

Have you seen this?
Gives you some great ideas on how to keep it from feeling too 4th-of-July. And gives you a great inspiration board!

@kerensa: Absolutely no blue accents! Lol. I was totally just going to use red for the dresses, the groomsmen’s ties, and the decorations (:
@Miss Fish: Fiance will be an officer by the time the wedding rolls around! Good to know about ivory next to the white though; thank you (:
@gangqinjia: Thank you! Very helpful (:
