eBay.

You’d be surprised what people buy. I put on old clothes, shoes, and bags. My partner sells action figures. My coworker use to hit garage sales to later post the items to eBay.

I’m decluttering and getting some extra money.

In the past I have done transcription work with Rev. You have to take a test and get accepted, but if you do, you just accept jobs as you want them. Been thinking about doing it again for a bit to make some extra money.

Yup.  Lots.  You can find quite a few on Glassdoor and Indeed, just limit your search to “Remote” jobs.  Many companies, some names you will probably recognize, have started contracting out their customer service/call center jobs.  It makes excellent business sense.  They save a ton on overhead and lower their liabilities.  Some are permanent, full time jobs, others are contract gigs.  My sense is that this trend is likely to continue.  Apple has work at home agents doing their tech support; Progressive contracts out at least some of their CS to remote agents.

You can also teach English online.  There are more caveats there, however, since you’re dealing with foreign entities and don’t have the kind of legal recourse you would have with a US based company if something went sideways.

desertgypsy :  I’ve signed up for Rev but each time I’ve logged in in the past 2 weeks there have been no jobs available!

sweetiemermaid :  that’s weird because I get emails constantly that are like “we have 10,000 jobs waiting, please log in!” Maybe I’m like a higher rank or however they do it? It’s been a while since I’ve logged in though.

blessedbethefruit002 :  Why would strangers have your address? If you’re selling on EBay you’ll be shipping the items to the buyer… they aren’t coming to your home to pick stuff up.

blessedbethefruit002 :  I’d recommend a scale to weigh packages and printer to make shipping easier. We just use our phones for photos and postings. I find similar items and price accordingly. After it sells, we pack it, pay for the shipping at home, wrap it up, and drop it off at the post office.

If you’re worried about strangers having your address, you could always get a PO box. It would be an additional expense.

harlequinade :  I believe you can remove that or use a PO Box depending on which company you choose to ship through?

harlequinade :  How does the shipping work through them? Do you have to set up your own shipping account through USPS?

desertgypsy :  What kind of transcription? Is it dictating op notes or office notes, etc for doctors? I have been looking to do a PT job myself to make some extra money. Currently I do medical coding so I think I’d be pretty qualified for something like that. I was going to do DoorDash but my SO was really worried about me getting assulted…the likelyhood of that is pretty low I think as we live in suburbs that are safe with a bunch of yuppies lol but I really didnt want to do something he’s super uncomfortable with.
