Fiance and I want to get married in September, but since we are buying a house in 2011 we have to push the wedding back to 2012. That means we will be engaged for 22 months. Yikes!
How long were/are you engaged for?

Ah! I hit the wrong poll button lol :-/ we will be engaged 23 months when we get married. We got engaged 2/14/09 and we’re getting married 1/1/11! Trust me, the time will fly and you will so very appreciate the extra time to plan. You can spread everything out over so much more time! I loved the long engagement!
We dated for 4 years before we got engaged, so it’s been a long time coming for the wedding!

We are having a 22 month engagement too! Fiance proposed at the end of August. We really, really, really wanted a June wedding, but thought that 10 months might not be enough time for us to get it together. So we pushed it to 2012. At first I was kinda bummed, but it’s been great so far… I’ve really enjoyed having my pick of vendors since no one is really booked for 2012 yet!

I got engaged in Aug. 2007 and am not getting married until May 2011!! That’s almost 4 years!? wow. It’s a good thing I didn’t start planning a wedding right away…we found out we were pregnant 3 weeks after our engagement! Oops! We put the wedding on hold to buy our home and get used to being new parents… now our son will be three in March and he’ll be our ringbearer in our wedding in May. I wouldn’t have had it any other way now!!

We got engaged july 10th….my brother is going to afghanistan late feb/early march so we picked the farthest weekend away that would ensure my brother would still be here. we originally wanted april or may 2011

@jenroh1984: We are on the same track. 4 years sans the baby!

@MapleMoose: We are going to be at 22 months, too! We are doing it for the same reasons. It’s totally logical, housing is important. Keep the house in perspective, not the months of engagement! Besides, it would not be fun to overwhelm yourself. Enjoy the engagment, enjoy the house and the wedding will be here before you know it! 🙂

We’ll be engaged for 22 months too! We got engaged in May 2009 and will be married March 2011. It just worked out the best as far as working it around school and finances.

We’ve been engaged for 1 year as of this month and we still have another 4 months to go so a total of 16 months for us 🙂

7.5 months for me (got engaged in Feb), and part of the reasoning was also house related. We wanted to get married and buy a house, but we didn’t want to deal with those 2 enormous expenses in one year. So we decided to get married this year, and we’ll start looking for a house in January!

As of our plans right now, we will be about 19 months. On the one hand, it makes me feel better about spreading out wedding planning stress over a manageable period of time, but on the other, I just wish we could be married sooner. 🙁

Pretty much 15 months by the time we get married.
We got engaged in July 2010.

We got engaged thanksgiving weekend last year, it will be an 18 month engagement. He wanted to pull it off in 6 months but I freaked and said no way and now I regret it! I sure won’t have any stress (hopefully) since I planned everything so far in advance…
