I want to get married right now, but we picked our wedding date because it’s the only one that’s feesible with my school schedule. Getting married while I’m student teaching would be a bad move, and I don’t want to be a newly wedded wife while going through that either. So we’re waiting until I finish. I wish we could move it up, but waiting is just the right thing for us to do.

We are in the middle of a 2 year engagement.  I don’t get married sooner because planning a wedding is A.) Stressful and B.) Expensive.

2 years still does not give enough time to work all the overtime I’m going to need to foot the bill.  My father is retired, and I’ve lived on my own for the last 7 years.  So would not even think about hitting up my parents for money for a party.

I would go to the courthouse today if FH agreed; just to get the pressure off and get him on my health insurance at work for just in case something were to happen.  I already had the big wedding and really just wanted to elope and throw a party for our friends and family when we returned.  It’s his first wedding so he wants the big wedding and doesn’t think we could keep a courthouse wedding a secret until the actual wedding next year.

We’re entering the home stretch (last 7 months) of a 22-month engagement. I keep saying we should just elope and get it over with, but he’s not having any of it. It’ll make the actual day more special I think, being around our families and friends. And even though it’s maddening right now I think I would regret not having the big wedding.

We are having a 3 and a half year engagement, and are just under 9 months in, I would love to get married sooner, but we have so much we need to sort out before that. I need to do my Masters degree, we want to live together for a year first, so it pushes things back.

We have a little under 2 years to go (total we will have been engaged 2.5 years). It works out best with my school schedule and we’ll have more time to plan everything and save money (:

We had a 15 month engagement, because we wanted a September wedding and we got engaged in June!  Ther was no way we were going to be able to swing it in 3 months (nor did we want to try!), so we planned it for the following year.  And thank God we did – I would have truly lost my mind trying to plan everything in under a year 😛

We’re marrying in 635 days (I have a countdown app lol). We are technically not engaged yet, however. We still need to have my custom ring made, but we need to wait for a tax refund.

Just look at all the posts about Bees who are depressed now bc the wedding is over. The wedding will be one of the biggest days of your life, so why rush it and want to get it done sooner rather than later? Just savor these last months as an engaged couple. You have plenty of years together to be a married couple. Just enjoy it while it lasts, because the wedding will be here before you know it.

I’m still a waiting bee, but SO has wanted a longer engagement whereas I have wanted a shorter one. Personally I would like to get married while I am still in my 20s (I’ll be 29 in 2 months) and SO would rather get married in his 30s… only problem with that? I’m older than him by 5 months 🙁 I am fine with having a simple ceremony and reception that don’t cost a bundle, SO wants to spend a fortune (ex. I saw a nice place the other day so I researched them, their prices start at $150pp plus tax and gratuity! I told SO to cross them off the list and he said no that’s a good price, we don’t want to skimp on our wedding.) Right now we’re looking at May 2014, but we’ll see what happens when I actually have the ring on my finger!
