not engaged yet, but we’ve been together just under five years, and we will be engaged by the end of this year! I know people who’ve been engaged within less than a year, and others who were together for 6+ before getting engaged – everyone’s relationship is different πŸ™‚

maloussii:  Six and a half years. Neither of us were bothered at all. We just decided it was probably time to get to it, if just for legal reasons!

Have you lived together? That’s really helpful. Plus, you’ll be judged by others somewhat on age and financial security. Congratulations on your happy relationship πŸ™‚

We’ve been together 2 years and as a PP said I think we will be engaged before our 3rd anniversary! I’m 24 and he’s 28. We knew each other for 2 years before we started dating too πŸ™‚ For the past 4 or 5 months we have seriously talked about marriage, so we’ll see.

We were together just over two years when he proposed. Both of us felt the time was right and that we didn’t want to wait any longer, especially since he was 31 and felt more than ready to start settling down. We agree it’s totally different for everyone though.

We got engaged after 3 years, we’re also having a 2 year engagement. We had been living together for a year and a half. πŸ™‚

It’ll be just under 2.5 years–we’re 30 and 31. I’d say the comments about when it was going to happen have been going on for 6-8 months now; everyone seemed shocked that we didn’t get engaged or elope on our Euro trip last spring.

He proposed about a year and a half in and we’ll be married a month shy of our 3 year anniversary. No one gave us trouble for being too soon though I wondered if they would. Many people said they’d been waiting for it or knew it had to be coming soon.

We were together a little over two years when we got engaged, but we’d known each other for almost six years.

maloussii:  We were together for 5 years and he proposed on our 5th anniversar. If it had been under a year I don’t think either of us would have been ready for that level, at that point just enjoy being together and learning about each other.

For us it’d be seven and a half years (not engaged, but will be soon) and even then his mother thinks it’s too soon! She thinks we need at least a decade before getting engaged so you can’t please everyone! When you know, you know. I don’t believe our 7 yr relationship is somehow stronger or better than a 7 month one. Each relationship is unique πŸ™‚

Hi! Congratulations on your engagement! i met my fiancé three years ago on Christmas Eve. He asked me to move in with him after 5 months of dating. To be honest, I feel like we have been “married” this entire time. We got engaged after 18 months of dating, but honestly we are married in every sense of the word. The ceremony and certificate will make it legal, that’s all. His cousin just got married to a girl he has only known for 9 months. When you know, you know. Blessings to you!
