Like the title says, my 5 bridesmaids still do not have their dresses yet and it’s stressing me out. I let them pick out their dresses, with the condition that they must be some shade of purple (my wedding color) and they must all match/ be the same. My Moh is leading the charge and she says that the BMs are all willing to pay for the dress.
i found out that one of my Bridesmaid or Best Man is really intent on sticking to a budget of so they looked online for cheap dresses. They ordered one online and it seemed perfect until they came in. My Bridesmaid or Best Man tried them on and they all said it was not flattering and made them look pregnant, which I didn’t think so and I liked the dress and wanted them to stick with it. But because I’m not paying for it, I I was ok with them returning it and continuing the search for a dress.
However, I feel like time is running out and at this point I just want to get a dress already. I’ve made several suggestions but my Moh didn’t like any of them. I feel like she’s being picky. even though it’s out of my budget, I am ready to offer to pay half or even just pay for a dress that I choose just so they have something. I probably should have done that in the first place to save myself some of the stress, but I thought this would be an easy process.

@PeachRN: If they are ordering from one of the bridal/bridesmaid designers, they NEED to order ASAP. I ordered at the beginning of June for my September 27 wedding, and was told it would come in the first or second week of September… so they are really cutting it close.
Are you totally opposed to them having mismatched dresses, if they are all purple? If they don’t order soon, they may need to buy off the rack at a non bridal store.
Also, have you considered the convertible dresses? They can be styled so many different ways, each bridesmaid can wear it someway that suits their body type.

Same thing happened to me, I gave my BM’s the freedom of ordering any dress they wanted in “plum”, gave them the shade swatches and sent them on their way. 3 months before the wedding and only 1 dress had been ordered. 2 months before the wedding and 2 BM’s still hadnt ordered theirs.
They finally got around to it, they all ordered their dresses from David’s Bridal and they all arrived within a month. Time is running out, but it is still possible for them to be ordered and make it in on time.

You can also check with major bridal retailers that have outlet locations – these stores sell dresses as is from the rack – they may require alterations, and may not all match – but your Bridesmaid or Best Man can get designer dresses for much cheaper. My Bridesmaid or Best Man are allowed to all choose thier own dresses – they have very different budgets, body types, and taste… As long as they stay within my color range and look cohesive. I wanted them to feel beautiful too! Two of my girls already bought thier dresses from modcloth.com, pictured below. Both were under $100 and arrived in about 5 days. They look great together, but just different enough to add some drama. Good luck!

Dressilyme is always an option. We got our Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses from there in a month and they’re beautiful.

David’s Bridal is pretty fast and relatively inexpensive as long as you don’t get anythign too fancy. What kind of budget is she sticking to?
You might want to remind her that being too picky now could mean they end up in a disaster dress.

@PeachRN: What budget are they wanting to stick to? Any particular style, material, length? What does the Maid/Matron of Honor specifically not like?

Thanks for tHe advice. I talked to my bridal party and they are going to David’s Bridal this weekend. They were trying to stick to a budget of $100 for the dress with no alterations. Most of them like longer dresses and that’s what I prefer too. I’ll get them to check out JCP as well. I want to get a dress this weekend for sure.
