I’m having my wedding on a Friday (1 week before Easter vacation.)  Those who want to come will, those who don’t, won’t!  Best of luck!

Ouch!  What time would the wedding be?  If it’s evening, I’d go with Friday (they should have time to get in and get changed).  If it’s before six, Saturday before the holiday.

I personally like the saturday before Thanksgiving.  And coming from an Ohio girl, the Ohio State/Michigan game is generally the Saturday before Thanksgiving BUT NOT THIS YEAR.  So hopefully any ohio state fan ohio folks shouldn’t have an issue.

I think the Saturday before Thanksgiving is totally fine.  And I hate a holiday weekend wedding!  I don’t consider the Saturday before to be a holiday weekend.  Most people don’t start Thanksgiving plans until Wednesda so I think you’re fine to do it on the 19th.

I am having my shower the Saturday before Thanksgiving and everyone seems to be on board with that. I think it is nice to kinda kick off the holiday season!

I voted for a Friday a few weeks before.  Usually I travel for Turkey Day and it would be difficult for me to travel Out of Town so closely together.  But if there’s a few weeks in between then it would be much easier to plan for that time off.

I don’t think the Saturday before Thanksgiving would be a problem…I would be more concerned if the available date were the Saturday *after* Thanksgiving.

That said, I don’t think a Friday is too big of a problem, either.  We are having our wedding on a Friday because it’s cheaper, and I assume that some people will miss the ceremony because they can’t leave work early enough, or that some people might not be able to make it. But we just could not afford a Saturday, and the way I look at it, every person who can’t make it saves us money. 😛

Have you thought about doing a Sunday wedding? I purposely chose the date of October 9, 2011 because it’s the day before Columbus day and many people will have the next day off.

About 1/2-2/3 of our guests will be flying in for our wedding also, which is on a FRIDAY.  If you have that many out of town guests, it is likely that they will make a short vacation out of it, and a Tuesday is no different than a Saturday when you are on vacation!! (I know, I know…it’s a Friday).

I would stay away from having a wedding on Thanksgiving weekend.  Airfares will be astronomical and some people might want to spend it with their families elsewhere (unless basically only family will be coming — that might make for a GREAT Thanksgiving!) Unless your relatives could afford to fly in right before Thanksgiving, I think the Friday would be the lesser of two evils.

I think Saturday before Thanksgiving would be easier for people than a Friday.  People could conceivably not take a day off for a Saturday wedding.  Not that I would ever do it but we seriously had more than a few people (including close family members of my husband!) arrive the night before or the morning of our wedding and leave early on Sunday morning to drive the whole day home…

I don’t see any problem with the Saturday before Thanksgiving. If it were after Thanksgiving, that’s different. Any time in November/December is busy with the holidays, but people can make time!
