So, I hired a vendor almost a year ago to provide rentals for our wedding. I paid in full with a personal check. She was very pleasant during our initial interaction. I am now < 3 weeks away from the wedding and she is such a pain in the ass to communicate with. Everything is incoherant, defensive, and worded like she is doing me a big favor by providing rentals. She has my money, it’s non-refundable, and I have no credit card company to make things right. Her phone number doesn’t work (tried it from 3 different lines), yet she claims it does.
She was a new business when I hired her and she has lousy reviews now (2 out of 5 stars). I didn’t rent anything from her that is critical to the wedding, just decorative items, so if she drops the ball it won’t be a catastrophe. I am just going to let the chips fall where they may and then take her to small claims when she fails to deliver.
Lesson learned: hire a vendor who accepts credit cards or move along.
