A little background: The Guy and I are going to a wedding in a couple weeks (on a Friday evening) and we will be staying at my parent’s house that night, as the wedding is closer to where they live. On the Saturday following the wedding, I am having my hair and makeup trials, and then I am staying at my parents’ house on Sunday for my bridal shower.
Unless we take both our cars, The Guy will have to stay at my parents’ house all weekend until I’m done at my shower on Sunday afternoon and we can drive back home together.
I’m worried about him seeing me on Saturday with my hair and makeup done. Do you think this will ruin the surprise for him on the wedding day? I know that it won’t be the same effect without my dress and all my accessories, but I’m still worried that it will take away from the moment when he sees me for the first time when I walk down the aisle.
What says the Hive? Would you let your Fiance see your hair/makeup trials?

My hubby saw mine. I got it done right before dinner and we wanted to go out. I wasn’t going to take it down right away b/c I wanted to make sure it lasted. It didn’t ruin our first look for him, everything’s completely different all put together. Plus, I doubt he even remembered what my trial looked like.

I did a makeup trial yesterday for our e-shoot, so Fiance had to see it. Honestly, I was a little bummed out – because he got to see what my makeup will look like… but I know it won’t be 100% the same and it was awesome to hear how much he liked it.
I think, bottom line, the whole look put together – plus the fact that it’s YOU – will be the show-stopper for your FI!

I’m not going to let him see mine. He inadvertently saw my wedding shoes and he was disapointed the surprise was ruined for those (although he loves the shoes!) so i’m going to protect everything else!!

I hadn’t even thought of this. Interested to see what others say!

My Fiance has been very clear that he doesn’t want to see anything that has to do with what I will look like on the big day! So I don’t think I will let him see it.

I’m really torn! On the one hand, it’s a nightmare logistically to take two cars. On the other, I really don’t think I want him to see the look – especially because it will be a fairly dramatic difference from my everyday look. Hmmm….I will have to see if we can come up with a solution.
On the funny side – The Guy’s solution to this problem was just for me to take out my hair and wash my face immediately after my appointments! Boys are so funny sometimes!

my guy saw mine and it was not a big deal. we weren’t really keeping anything but the dress a surprise though. but, both my hair and makeup were different on the day of than the trials because i asked for some changes for the actual day, so it wasn’t really the same look anyway.

I think its a must to let your Fiance see you makeup trials. My Fiance is so use to me barely wearing makeup – tinted moisterizer, blush, eyeliner, and chapstick, so, I know if I wear just a TAD BIT more than normal he will think I look “different” not bad, but maybe not good either.
I am so glad that I let him see my first trial, because my MOA went heavy on the eye makeup….for me… i mean if you are use to seeing you fiance wearing heavy eye makeup daily than it would have been beautiful, but the first words out of his mouth was ” I don’t like your eye makeup AT all, you look better without any eye makeup.” He was persistent on it, and wasn’t “just saying it”.
So I did a 2nd trial with the same MOA and explained the issue, she used colors that enhanced my eye color(s) (they change from blue-gray-green-teal-pale blue- to even purple) so not only was it pretty and natural colors.. buy my eye color got really enhanced and looked a pretty teal.
When I walk down the aisle my eyes might look super blue, green, or purple (which would be great since thats my wedding color lol), so theres still an elimante of surprise, but I’m glad he got to have an opinion… that last thing I would want is to walk down the aisle and his reaction be…”wow, now that makeup makes her look different.. not in a good way!”
I say show your Fiance, they have opinions and you want to look beutiful for him…I mean its not like your FIs will ever say anything, but you know what I mean ladies.. they think it but never ever say it.. its like asking “hun do I look fat in this?” lol.
My hair though, he has seen pictures of what I want and loves the style, but he wont see my hair until I walk down the aisle.

I got my hair and MU trial in mid-June with my wedding 2 months later. I actually ended up changing both. My hair was very different (and better) the day of my wedding and I just told the stylist exactly what I wanted and he delivered! Then on my wedding day the MUA who did my trial was running late with another client so I asked the other MUA on staff if she would mind doing my makeup because we were on a tight schedule. I also changed the make up because in my trial my lips were too dark and not enough eye make up. I doubt my husband remembered what my trial looked like at all AND a trial just doesnt look the same without the whole get up!

Mr. Cardy saw me with my hair trial – it’s kind of hard not to for us, since we have to make a two hour trip to do anything wedding related…I didn’t want to go by myself! So yeah, he saw it, but I don’t think it’s a big deal. He’ll probably see my makeup trial too!

My Fiance will see mine a few times and I’m not worriedI’m going to a MAC MUA in the states, but since I’m having a destination wedding, I will need to practice a bit before the big day! I’m sure he’ll still be in awe seeing me in the whole wedding day ensemble as I’m walking down the isle to be with him!!!!!

Its totally up to you. My husband loves my hair down but I usually like it up so for our wedding I did a “down-do” just for him. I didn’t want him to know until our wedding day so after my hair trial I put my hair up in a pony. I really hated messing up the pretty do but I reallly wanted him to be surprised!

My Fiance and a couple friends saw me after the hair and makeup trial. After the makeup artist did my first eye, I asked her to do something a little more natural on my other eye, so they looked slightly different, and I was able to ask my Fiance and friends which one they preferred. I wanted to see how long the hair/makeup would last, so I wasn’t about to take it out as soon as I got home.
