meglynn:  Because I haven’t told it in a while… my now DH proposed with a surprise trip to Paris! I came home from work one day to find my best friends packing and my boyfriend at the airport waiting for me (and dealing with some flight cancellation mayhem). We arrived in Paris the next afternoon, he proposed at sunrise the following morning in front of Sacre Couer. πŸ™‚

Sorry you’re still waiting. We had a tough winter leading up to that proposal in April. I thought he was going to propose 8 months before he did.

I’m in the same boat as you @Meglynn.  I too have been told that I will not be getting a proposal for while.  It is dissapointed and sometimes hard to keep reminding yourself it will happen…and to be patient.

Be patient.  You never know…I knew my SO had the ring for like 6 months!

And one day, he calls and asks me if I want to go hiking. (Now, he was new to hiking and hiking to me is up rocks and steep inclines) And he mentions where he wants to go “hiking”.  I tell him that’s more of just walking.  But he’s insistant that we should go.  I bring my dachshund IzzyBean(it’s her first “hike”)
We’re walking around in the woods, which are the same woods where we go snowshoeing, where we first began talking about getting engaged and when we first came up with the idea of what my ring would look like.

After awhile, I decide that we need to sit down so that Izzy can have a drink.  So, we find a fallen tree and sit on it.  Izzy has her drink and then my He stands up and starts clearing a spot of leaves and sticks in front of me.  And I’m like, “What are you doing?”  And he answers, “This” and gets down on one knee….

It was simple.  Not flashy.  Outdoorsey.  It was perfect for us!

So sorry you have to wait longer then expected :/ I know waiting sucks.

At the time of my proposal,we were talking engagement heavily and it felt really one sided (Obv mine). I thought to myself that I’d have to wait a lot longer. I was very upset at the time. The day of, I had worked a really long event outside and literally was up from 5:30am. By the time it was over I was really grouchy and tired and so hungry. So I had dinner and then decided to see my bf because he begged me to come over even though I was dog tired. So by the time I came over it was like 7:30 at night and we hung out and played some video games and then he’s like you wanna go down to the beach? I’m like it’s almost 10pm,dark and chilly out (because it’s late september in NY) But I agree because being by the water puts me in a better mood. So we go and take a walk on the sand and he’s telling me to guess what he wants for his birthday (2 days away) I start naming things off the top of my head that he’s mentioned in the past. He tells me the most important thing he wants this year and forever is me and there he is getting down on one knee. I was speachless for like a good 30 seconds, suffice to say I said yes a million times lol that was 2 years ago and nothing will ever top that For me. It was a total surprise and that’s what he wanted for me even though I hate surprises.

we are now “renewing” our engagment with a new ring and he has decided to propose a second time, very exciting. Since we are having a long engagement of 4 Years,2 down 2 to go, it felt right for us to do it again. We are getting married on our 10 year anniversary in 2018.

Your time will come Bee, hang in there! 😊

He proposed on our favorite local mountain hike just before he had to go off to work. We had been together 7 years and had talked about marriage, but I was tired at the top and not expecting it at all!

A few months later my ring was stolen, and after two months of searching everywhere for it, I found it on Ebay the day it was posted and just as it sold (after it exchanged hands several times and ending-up with the seller). I had to get the police involved for the recovery, but two weeks after the discovery it traveled across the country and was back on my hand. It was meant to be! πŸ˜€

Mine was nice and low-key. We decided one day out in the garden that we should probably get around to getting married (6 years together, lived together most of that time and own a house) so we went to the antique jewellers we had saved online and bought a ring the next day! I thought it was off for resizing so we went home and stopped off at a stately home on the way where he proposed out on the balcony courtyard. It was a surprise and he’d hidden the ring box in a box of chocolates he offered me. He said he just couldn’t wait.

I hope yours comes soon!

My guy took me to Italy. I had previously told him about a Swarovski ring I loved, so he bought it here in NZ and took it with him. On the morning of our fifth anniversary, he asked me. Just us, in our villa in Tuscany.  He asked me with the Swarovski ring. It was such a perfect morning. Then we spent the day stretched out in loungers by the pool. During a day trip to Sienna we found a ‘real’ e ring (because the Swarovski wouldn’t last as a daily worn ring) which was perfect!

Im a new bee, got engaged September 30, 2015 on our trip πŸ™‚

It was our first day in Bora Bora and the weather was a bit dreary. We took the resort shuttle to the main town to get some groceries and on our way back to the resort my fiance Jon looked a bit unsettled. But when we got back to our resort island and the skies cleared, he told me we had to go take pictures.

Earlier that morning I had told him that the best time to take pictures is at sunset and dusk when the sunlight is not too bright. So when we were back at the resort and he saw the sun setting over Mt. Otemanu, he didnt’ want to miss the golden opportunity to take pictures (rainfall in Bora Bora is very erratic and unpredictable).

While I was getting ready in the washroom, he secretly called the butler, Masahiro Iemoto to pick us up from our overwater villa and take us to the main dock. We both love making vacation videos, a hobby that developed between us and our latest toy is an aerial drone — to enhance our visuals. So, unsuspectingly, we brought our camera, drone, and GoPro with us to the dock to take sunset photos.

Even when I passed my camera to Masahiro, and Jon had set the GoPro on a tripod, and setup the drone I still had no idea what was about to happen. But before I knew it, he started reciting his speech to me and got down on one knee to ask me to marry him.

The funniest part was when he put the ring back in his pocket because he was too nervous, and then he realized and was shaking putting the ring on my finger.

Of course I said yes and hugged him and told him I loved him πŸ˜€ I LOVE YOU BABE!

And we have our entire vacation video in Bora Bora here:

You can also scroll to 28:09 for just the proposal!

ENJOY!!

xx

meglynn:  I expected a Christmas 2014 proposal. I got 200 bags of hot Cheeto fries (my favorite chip that’s hard to find here in new England) instead. I thought he wasn’t going to propose until our trip to so cal. But Jan 24th 2015 our friend hosted a murder mystery dinner party. As she did the year before. It was murder at the Oscars. So we all dressed up. Fi’s character was my character’s ex fiancé who was trying to get back with mine. At the end of the dinner he was still in character telling my character he still loved her. I was like shut up! The game is over. Stop being in character. Instead of listening he was still going. Then he said my name instead of the characters name. He said No Summer listen to me will you marry me. And he went into how me not the character was perfect for him. Turns out he planned the whole thing down to who was which character.

Mine was a Christmas Day proposal as well. I kept peeking at the gifts under our tree – none of them had my name on them. Our dog had 4 gifts. I thought “maybe….” but didn’t want to get my hopes up if it wasn’t going to happen.

Then on Christmas morning, there was a new gift, addressed to me and Holly (our dog – our running joke was that she has my last name at that she would one day take his). Inside the box were 3 Bath and Body Works candles. One was to me, one to Holly, and one to both of us. He told me a specific order to open them in. He also told me to open each one and smell it. At this point I was like “ok….I’ve smelled these before….” Also I was doing some math in my head and three Bath and Body Works candles did not come even kind of close to our agreed-upon limit so I was a little suspicious. Then, I opened the third candle – the jar was empty, but the ring box was wrapped up inside. I was so excited I barely remember what he said. But I remember saying “are you asking me and Holly to take your last name?”. It was really sweet and made for an extra special Christmas morning

My man shocked me on Christmas. There must have been over 100 presents under the tree. Only 7 were his, my parrot Crash got 2 and my puppy Mimi got 3. He set up the video camera because we wanted to catch our Parrot opening his presents on his first Christmas. As we opened the last gifts, he blurts out, “this has been great,  but there’s something missing. I knew immediately and I just starting balling and hugging him.

Then he got  down on  one knee and my dog Mimi comes running up to me with this pouch tied around her neck! Then he said the best thing I’ve ever heard as I took the pouch off Mimi. He said, ” I pick you, will you bless me by being my wife”? He put the ring on my finger and my parrot kissed the ring and said ,So pretty, I love you”!  best moment ever, then we made martinis and got in the pool.
