- Wedding: April 2013
My SO and I are not yet engaged. We are long-time soulmates though, and often talk about our plans for our big day. And then one day I discovered the hive….. Now I’m basically obsessed with all things wedding. He loves to go on truck forums and other ‘guy’ things online. It is not uncommon for each of us to sit on the couch with our laptops and get sucked into our internet obsessions… all while sharing photos, and posts, etc with each other.
So now we (well, mostly me) have all sorts of plans that are being solidified. Things like colors, dress ideas, venue choices, possible photographers and on and on and on. And then there are the things I love the most…. all the little details. You know, all the things that in the end will add up quickly to your budget but you have to have them. So as we were sitting on the couch posting away the other night I had lightning strike and a genius idea…. why not start accumulating all these little things. They really aren’t expensive things. And they certainly are things you could acquire and store away. Things like vases for centerpieces, plastic champagne glasses (bc we aren’t allowed glass one on the beach, where we want to wed), fabric to use for the ceremony and reception. We know what colors we like. And what the general feel for our wedding will be..
I was so stoked when SO was on board. He thinks it’s a fantastic idea. We can start finding things when they are on sale and just put them into a storage bin. And whatever we don’t use in the long run we can then just donate somewhere or sell online for someone else to enjoy! We’re moving into a new apartment in about a week. I’m so excited afterwards to begin my hunt for my wedding’s perfect details! Now I just can’t wait for that proposal!!!
So what do you think? Are we crazy? Did any of you start buying things before you were even engaged?
