My Fiance and I are having two weddings (one in the states and one in France in 3 years…Fiance is French and I’m half French) and for the US one we are just having our parents attend, but will have a party a few days later. My parents have invited everyone (and their neighbor) to the party and now want us to choose a cake. They wanted us to do a piece montee ( a traditional French wedding cake) but I don’t like them and want to save the fancy stuff for the big wedding. I’d be good with one of those sheet cakes you buy at the grocery store. Ha! I’m very picky with desserts and don’t want something creamy or moussy or super fluffy and liquorish. Something like chocolate fudge cake sounds perfect! Any suggestions as to a cheap yet delicious cake we could have made? Any great DIY recipes? Keep in mind we’re about 80 people. Ugh. Can I do an adult fancier tasting cake and a sheet cake for the kids (and me)? I was also thinking of having several different cakes, kind of like a dessert buffet? Help!
