So our venue offers dessert (other than wedding cake) with the meal (4 entrees with a potato and veggie and full soup/salad bar) – initially we were going to just skip it but then we decided to go ahead with it. Our choices are cheesecake, chocolate mousse torte, strawberry torte, carrot cake, cobbler, or chocolate cake…we nixed cheesecake (I can’t eat it), carrot cake (either you love it or hate it), cobbler (they only offer apple which fi greatly dislikes), chocolate cake (too heavy)…so we’re debating between the two tortes with a strong lean towards chocolate mousse torte (I’m definitely a big chocoholic). In any case with that and the homemade kolacky (family made) in addition to cake/cupcakes that’s a whole lotta dessert. In talking to our baker re: the number of servings, she suggested a smaller cake that would feed a portion and cupcakes to cover the balance. Now I’m wondering if I should do that or cut the portions down thinking that there is a possibility some people will skip the cake. Or am I better off covering the full number of guests (and then some) in case people decide to take the cake/cupcakes home? We’re also having s’mores trail mix on the tables and a popcorn bar.
