- Wedding: June 2013
So our June wedding will take place in a beautiful gazebo in a local state park overlooking the water. It is stunning! In an effort to save money we are not having live music and I have fallen in love with Vitamin String Quartet. Our bridal party is going to be walking to “We Belong” by Pat Benetar and I’ll be walking to “In your eyes” by Peter Gabriel…done in VSQ style of course 🙂
This is where the trouble begins…after I absolutely fell in love with the place and had the ball and chain to be sign of on it I realized that right there on the website it says no “amplified” sound allowed!!! Skeeeeuuuurrrttt!!! Say what?!?!
So i’m thinking surely they mean like a DJ with a giant amplifier or something right? Well I emailed the state department that handles the renting of the gazebo and asked what exactly this meant. I thought maybe we could do like an ipod dock with a few wireless speakers placed around the gazebo (not even sure if this will work in real life). Basically they said no ipod dock but we could use…wait for it….a BOOMBOX!! Isn’t the concept the same? I mean they both play music, they both use speaker that AMPLIFY the sound. I don’t get it, they also said no microphone. Umm how in the hell are people going to hear the ceremony?
So after speaking to my officiant (who is an amazing guy by the way!!) He agreed that it’s ridiculous and he said we should do it anyway lol (see why I love this guy) He’s done tons of weddings (in state parks as well) and doesn’t think that anybody will even be there to watch out every move and by the time word gets to the office we’ll be long gone.
So after this giant rant of mine the main point I’m getting to is what would be the best route to go for our music. An ipod? And we would def have to purchase so any thoughts on a device we could buy that won’t break the bank?
Thanks for reading my entirely long, whiny story!
