I voted 7 since our full time is a 35 hour work week.  I usually cruise the bee, or read blogs for about an hour a day, but I rarely take my unpaid lunch hour, so I think it works out.

Right now, I’m working probably 7 hours out of 8, which is a LOT for me but it’s tax season and also there are a lot of jobs going on. I’m an office manager for a manufacturing firm and in addition I am also a jr. estimator, normally this job, while there are a lot of things to do in any given day, only takes me 4-5 hours a day, the rest of the time I’m here to answer the phone and be at my boss’s beck and call, which means I have a lot of down time.

I voted 2, my job is a joke.  I just wait for the phone to ring and take a message.

Ugh, 1? LOL seriously I just answer the phones and do tasks as they come. I am on here entirely too often!

@sn2bmrsmntgmry:  It really depends on the day, but I typically don’t spend the full day, working, no.

I work in bursts.. like I can spend 20 minutes working on something that would take some people a few hours. I then will play around on the internet. The nature of an office job! I also have a lot of meetings these days.

At our office it’s more about the quality of the work than the time you put in. Luckily my boss is very flexible. I still spend at least 8 hours here (usually more), but when I need to leave early I do, or take a longer lunch etc. it’s not an issue.

I have had to work late or come in early before… it all balances out.

    It really varies.

I had a job where they were so inefficient there would be days in a row that there would be nothing I would be “allowed” to do (security reasons) except keep the chair warm and wait.

I had a job that did not differentiate between “quantity” and “quality” and thanks to them I found out that I could stay up for 3 days straight on zero sleep, but by the end of the third day, I was starting to hallucinate things (I knew they weren’t real, and normally I’d be fascinated by the experience, but I was much too tired to care at all at that point.)

Now I am a contractor and I work mainly from home. So I work 100% of the time that I’m billable. When I’m on the bee, I don’t bill that time to anyone. I am not a scammy person. Scamming doesn’t work out in the long run anyway. To build a client base, you must provide them a good product for the price. If I doubled my “hours” it took me to complete something, I’d be a more mediocre contractor, and soon they’d find a better person to go to and refer to than me.

I voted 3, but that is probably a high estimate. I’m usually here by myself, so I tend to goof off more. But, I always get my work done ๐Ÿ™‚

I would say about 4 hours total work, I work in a corporate office with 2 other women for a very small business. We normally just sit around and talk until someone walks in, the phone rings, or our boss comes out to talk. Our boss is pretty awesome as well, he’ll come and chat with us for hours as well. As long as we get done what we need to get done before deadline, he’s happy.

@MLDoddie:  No you don’t, it is literally torture!!! I HATE being bored. I function better when I am multi-tasking. I love you bee’s but seriously it gets old really quick. Only plus side is I work with all guys.. no women drama. And it’s super stress free! I used to work a very stressful job so I am okay with this for now ๐Ÿ™‚
