- Wedding: August 2011
I never would have considered myself the type of person who would get married more than once, but here I am. This will be my second wedding/marriage and I plan on making it my last (crosses fingers).
You know the story: Girl meet boy. Boy and girl fall in love. Boy proposes 3 months later, then 5 years later you find out how different you really are. Well, without getting into details that are not pretty, I am here again and ready to take the plunge.
This time the person holding my hand is one of my best friends and soul mate. We have a looooong story that spans over 20-something years and we dated before back in college. We have so many parallels in our lives that it is almost creepy. We hadn’t talked for almost 10 years when thanks to MySpace we reconnected at a pivotal point in both of our lives. Once again it was him and I against the world and I realized how much I missed him being in my life. Which was probably good that we weren’t in contact because we seem to end up in bed together.
Long story short: He took me to Ueno, Tokyo last May for a “short vacation.” While we were walking in the park, he got down on one knee and proposed to me carrying a willow stem ring he had woven. This was a test to see if I would love him and be his wife no matter what I wore on my hand, richer or poorer or what society thinks of our relationship. Of couse I said yes, and when I did he pulled out a beautiful engagement ring that I commented on in a store we shopped at the previous year.
So now I am doing it again. I am older, wiser and my skin is thicker. I am happier, healthier and know what to ask for in life. We never know what this life is going to bring and we only have one time to find out. I plan on doing the best I can and loving as hard as I can.
I’m wearing white this time.
It stands for new beginings.
