By The Way..yay 1,000 posts!! 🙂

I can’t stand the following: there, their, they’re errors and it and it’s. To, too, and two are not too far behind on that list…

@HappilyEverAfter54: “a lot” and “alot” are both technically correct.

@linguo42: Wait…do people actually make some of those mistakes?

I’ll admit sometimes I have to think very hard about affect and effect but I do try.  I never know where to put commas either.

@Grizz: Agreed!! That is the first thing I think of whenever I see it – you want someone to be away from your wedding?

A close second is your/you’re, but seriously nothing bugs me more than apart/a part.

Oh, and another one: Defiantly instead of definitely. I actually laugh out loud when I see that people have typed it. Oh, you’re defiantly going to do something? You’re such a rebel. haha.

What drives me crazy is “definately”.  It comes from the same root as “definition”.  There shouldn’t be an A in the word!

Your vs. you’re is my biggest pet peeve, and it’s always in the most like, assholish comments that people tend to do this, i.e., YOUR JUST JEALOUS AND UGLY!!

@Mrs Hedgehog:

In high school we had points taken off in English class for every “alot” in a paper. It’s not correct.

@accorn: Yup. I’ve actually seen every single one of those on the Bee as well as Facebook.

@ohheavenlyday: I’ve even seen people write “allot” for that, which of course means something entirely different.
