Edit: LMAO!  Okay, apparently I didn’t read the title properly!  I thought you were referring to stories/lies people had told in general, not just proposal stories.  I don’t have any strange proposal stories to add, unfortunately!

HA!  Just realized the URL has the title as being “What’s the Biggest Lie You’ve Ever Been Told.”  SO I’m NOT crazy!  I was just like….what the heck, how did I mess that up so badly?!  I could have SWORN it was about lies in general.  ]

So, I don’t have any proposal stories to share, but I do have a major, big-fat-stupid lie to share, so I will repost my previous post.  Hopefully someone else has either a propsal or lie story to share, because otherwise it’s going to make me feel bad that you and I are apparently the only ones who get fibbed to! Laughing

anyone got something that can top that one?

Perhaps!  I have heard some whoppers!  One of my friends has a tendency to make up lies.  We call them “(her name) Stories” and most of the time they are harmless, (only once that I can recall have I been hurt by her little lies/stories).  Once, she pretended her arm was broken for several days!  We were probably about eight years old, her mom was in nursing school, and put a cast on her arm for practice.  She was supposed to tell us she’d broken it, and then tell us the truth.  Instead, she milked it for all it was worth!  We went to a buffet restaraunt, and she had us carrying her tray, etc.  It wasn’t until about a week later that my older brother found out from her older sister, (they were of a similiar age as well, and rode the bus to school together), that it was all made up!

But the best one…in HS I had a friend who was pregnant.  About halfway through the pregnancy, I started having people at school asking me why she was pretending to be pregnant.  At first I laughed it off and responded with, “She’s not.”  Things started not adding up…she ended up being pregnant with twins, (but was still very tiny), we never met her boyfriend and there was no picture of him in the yearbook of the school he supposedly went to, she would never let anyone touch her belly, (thought the one time my friend snuck in and touched her, she said it was soft, like a pillow and not at all like a pregnant woman’s belly)…things that were odd but could perhaps be explained away.

But then things got really crazy…she was in a boating accident (drunk boater hit the boat they were in) and had to have an emergency c-section.  Both babies ended up dying.  There was never any newpaper article or anything, (you would think a pregnant woman losing twins after being hit by a drunk guy would be in the paper).  There was no hospital in the city she claimed she was in, and the nearest hospitals had no record of her.  We talked to her on her cellphone while she was in the “hospital” which was in and of itself suspicious, (because this was a time when you weren’t allowed to use your cell phones in patient areas), and while I was talking to her, I heard her dad come in the room and say something, I don’t remember what all these years later, but it led me to believe she was in her room at home.  Within days of an emergency c-section and losing her babies, she was walking around the Mall of America with a friend all day.  When we confronted her about it, our friendship ended.  I have recently gotten back into contact with her and the other friend we think was helping her cover it up, and I really, really want to ask them what the hell actually happened.  I am not sure she was ever pregnant.  I think she may have miscarried and pretended to be pregnant after the loss, (she did something one weekend that you shouldn’t do while pregnant, and then missed several days of school shortly afterwards), but I don’t really know.  I may never know.

But yeah, that is my crazy lie story.
