NOTE: I posted this on the waiting board, too, but I know there a lot of ring “experts” on this board so I decided to post it here, too!
I’m a lucky lady, really. I know he has his eye on a ring and that he wants to propose within 6 months. That’s more than a lot of waiting bees know! Here’s the thing: My SO is having a BLAST with me being a waiting bee! It’s never mean-spirited, but he’ll always tease me, saying things like “you’re going to cry. I know you will. You’ll cry buckets when I propose.” And “when you post pics of your ring, it will give the other bees a beegasm!” That’s a direct quote, btw. He’s always bragging about how amazing and perfect and unique my ring is and when we walk by stores, he’ll say “not one of those rings looks remotely like yours.”
I love this man, and I love that he’s having such fun with an ordinarily painful, anxious process but my inquisitive mind CAN’T TAKE IT! All of these comments and brags just kickstart my brain into research and planning mode and I can’t turn it off! And I may have six more months to go!
So can we play a game? It’s called “Guess Sooby’s Ring.” I think it’ll be a fun excercise to pass the time and give my poor brain something to do.
Here’s what I know:
The setting and the emerald will cost him around $1,500
He’s getting the emerald from Chatham.com (he’s already previewed at least one in person)
The setting is “nothing like” anything at the usual brick-and-mortar stores (Kay’s, Zales, Gordon’s, etc.)
He hates halos (dunno why) and likes “delicate” settings.
