I have been wedding dress shopping and I’m finding dresses that I love on models but then when I put them on they don’t look quite right. Probably because I’m not stick skinny like the models. I am 5’5 and 120 pounds but I have big hips and a big bust and I’m finding the trumpet look makes my butt look way too big. I’m getting married outdoors and I want to be comfortable. I look great in the ballroom type but I definitely am not comfortable in that to dance all night. So I’m curious to see pictures of actual women with actual normal bodies in different styles.

firstly, there is no such thing as too big of a butt!!! fitted dresses are *made* for women with hips – (or more accurately, a large hip-to-waist ratio). i cringe everytime i see a woman with no hips/waist try to pull off the look (though of course, you do you and all that). so embrace those hips, girl!
i am hippy myself (though have a small bust), and it took some re-thinking to come to terms with *not* hiding my hips (my whole life i thought i had to hide them behind full skirts.). i wound up with a very fitted sheath that is *gorgeous* on and my hips look banging. sadly, i dont have pics on this computer (work computer) to share.

this was literally my problem. I’m 5’3” and 135 pounds, very hippy. All my extra weigh seems to go to my love handles and thighs, ugh.. I had a really difficult time finding something that I felt balanced out my body and actually accentuated it right. I ended up with a sheath style dress (pictured below is with a petticoat under, unfortunately I don’t have pictures without the petticoat). I’m having a Destination Wedding in Mexico and wanted something light and comfy.

I have to add that I tried the trumpet styles, and good God I couldnt move my legs at all. My thighs had noooo breathing room. Plus the skirts tended to chop me up and felt very short and pudgy lol

I’m 5’2, hippy, extra junk in the trunk, thick thighs etc., lol Wedding dress shopping sucked. I didn’t care for the awful fit, feel or structure of any “traditional” dress I tried on. They simply don’t work for me. Got this off the rack at Nordstrom and love it. Super light and comfortable. White version wasn’t available in store. Good luck! Try not to get discouraged. You’ll figure out what works for you eventually. 😄

A big butt. Am I strange because I WANT my clothes to make my butt look bigger?lol I would love to have this problem.

Girl don’t try to hide those hips/that butt! Embrace it 🙂 I am 5’6″ and 160lbs and would give ANYTHING to have a booty or hips that show in my dress. I’m fairly straight up and down from my neck to me knees, unfortunately LOL!

I am 5’3 and 115–I don’t have a very big bust, but I do have pretty big hips. I went with a trumpet. I felt like it cinched in all the right places and made my waist look small. These pictures are both from the end of our day so you can see how it “fell” after wearing it and moving around in it all day. It was super uncomfortable to sit in at first, but the only time I really sat down was during a few pictures and for about 15 minutes during brunch.

I’m 5′ and 100lbs (155cm 45kg). I tried some ball gown and I was drowned. I tried a-line and empire and they are all wearing me and I was defitely not wearing them. So. I went for fitted with a slight mermaid (does that even make any sense?). It was soooo tough finding a dress because of my height. I personally always dream of wearing a big princess ball gown but I really look ridiculous in every single ball gown i tried (i tried like at least 10ball gowns). Btw this is me in both of my dresses. I will have two weddings to satisfy the two cultures involved

- Wedding: A restaurant on the beach
I’m 5’1 and 100 lbs. This picture was taken during my first alterations appointment, so the final result will be more fitted. I thought a ball gown would drown me because of my height, but I don’t think it does! The wedding will be in the Caribbean on the beach.

At my wedding I was around 145lbs at 5ft tall! I’ve lost a lil over 20lbs since then and now my dress fits completely differently than it did last year! Even though I lost that weight, my boobs and butt aren’t going anywhere lol
