I’m 5’4″ and at the time probably about 130-135 pounds. I found a drop waisted ballgown both accentuated my curves but also hid my larger butt and thighs. I have a small bust (which is filled out here with padding and “chicken cutlet” sticky bra), a small waist, and then big hips / butt.
Since I have a short torso, sheath and trumpet tended to skip my waist and make me a big block. I found the structure of the dress mattered more than the actual silhouette though. This has an inner corset and boning which helped it fit me properly, and my seamstress was able to extend the boning to make it perfect.
I did change into a short dress for the dancing though, after swearing I wouldn’t initially, and I’m glad I did. What little dancing I did in this ballgown felt like I was wearing an oven.

I am 5’8” and 130. I didn’t think I wanted an A-line but it just looked so much more flattering that I decided to go with it! Here’s my custom gown – giant bow and a detachable train.

I’m 5’9″ and 170. I have a smaller bust and consider myself to be hippy. I originally thought I’d be most comfortable in an a line but turns out they weren’t as flattering as I had imagined. I ended up in a form fitting slim fit and flare. Go figure! I love my dress!!
Here are some pics from today which was my first alterations appointment.

thank you! Oh you have no idea how i need this. I feel like I chose something too unusual and had some doubts. But i feel sooooo good in it and thats why i chose that one.
These two are by Pronovias. The second one is from their preview 2018 collection. I think the dress is called Drail. It has this amazing cape.

I am 5’4 and 145. I got a A-line that is kind of ball gown like. That suited my body the best.
Just a note, I am 25 pound heavier in this picture.

Ballgowns swallowed me up and I couldn’t stand the feeling of all that tulle and heaviness, mermaids were okay-just couldn’t move my legs in them lol, so I ended up with a light, sheath-ish dress? I’m 5’4 and 125 lbs. My bust is a size 4 in my dress, but my hips brought me up to an 8, which is the size the sample was in the picture (and it’s a little snug in the hip area, but I like it) Just working on that godforsaken lower tummy! Beautiful dresses, bees 🙂

I’m 5’3′ and weigh 140. I consider myself in-shape but have veryyyyy wide hips. I thought a mermaid wouldn’t work but I think having wide hips was what made it work. I don’t have too manyf front shots but you can see the wideness lol.

Thank you!!!! When I see the beautiful sleek lace dresses on the bee I have a bit of dress regret. But then I try mine on again and I remember why I chose it!

I am 5 5 and 123 pounds and I. Also felt like big dressed swallowed me up. I chose a sheath and one that specifically showed off my big hips 🙂

Im 5’4″, about 121 pounds, very busty and with big hips and a large butt. Here I am at my house in a trumpet gown with a small train. It’s actually not very restrictive if you get it altered correctly

Im 5’7 and 175 pounds. HUGE butt and thighs, B cup and no hips (Im literally a straight line) :-(. Fitted silouhettes emphasized my lack of womanly curves while drop waist styles made my torso look extremely long. I found the most flattering styles to be Ball Gown or A Lime….Im a sucker for dramatic silouhettes so I chose to take the ballgown route.

O. M. G. You are such a stunner and that dress is so beautiful! Is that a Pnina Tornai?

The first dress is amazing, all the dresses here are so beautiful but this one really stuck out for me.
5’2″ 81Kg here so I share your pain ladies. I always find that I think that dresses fit better on other people of the same body type than me, but that’s the self loathing coming out.
