We were between 2 settings….. He liked one (as well as my mom and sister both like the same one as him) I however loved the other one. I kept telling him to pick whichever he liked but really wanted the one I loved. He ended up getting the one I loved…. The other one was a bit more traditional and the same size stone wouldve looked a tad bit bigger on the setting….but mine sparkles from every angle and I love it. I don’t have pictures though.

It seems I have not posted in this one yet. So I will now!
The setting is my grandmother’s and it also happens to be exactly what I wanted platinum and only able to hold a round stone, one carat or slightly over that. So the last time we got serious about ring searching I gave him the setting, it needed to be repaired and we weren’t even sure if it was possible (altough I was crossing my fingers since I really wanted to wear grandma’s setting) but at least it let him know exactly what I wanted.
Later we went diamond shopping and he found out my preferences there. So my ring is a composite, its an heirloom (which was missing the stone when I got it), I gave him it so in essence I was able to pick it out and he bought the diamond on his own following the guidelines he had noted when we looked at diamonds.

He actually designed mine himself! I didn’t really have a preference for a ring, but I’ve always thought I would be more round than a princess cut. As soon as he pulled it out though, I was shocked at how beautiful it was. In the end, he knew me better than myself 😀

I’m surprised! The SO’s who had a custom ring made did really well. I’d be so worried about giving someone a custom ring they had no input on. Brave!

I got to pick mine out. FI told me to pick out what I wanted within “x” budget and let him know. I was actually in a pawn shop looking for a movie, wandered by the jewelry case and saw the ring. I knew it was perfect for me, put a 20% deposit to hold it and told Fiance where he could pick it up!

I suggested that my Fiance look into moissanite as I’m not a fan of diamonds, and I told him I prefer cushion or marquise cuts as you dont see them very often. He listened and completely blew me out of the water with his choice. I didn’t think he’d even listened, let alone pick something so gorgeous 🙂

DH went ring shopping and found one that he thought I would like and had me come see it. It was exactly what I wanted! We shopped around a little after just to make sure it was still “the one” and found nothing that compared! So I guess he picked it out and I approved of it! 🙂

My husband and I would browse ring stores when in the mall and try stuff on fr fun so her knew what I liked before we got engaged. He went out and picked my tacori all by himself! It’s better than any ring I could imagine!!

I was pretty practical and unromantic about what I wanted in a ring when he asked me. I pretty much told him:
1) Don’t spend too much, make it below the national average for sure. That’s money we can spend on a honeymoon.
2) NO yellow gold, just about any other type of metal is fine.
3) I’m fine with an antique, or something from a consigment shop/pawn shop
4) Don’t make it large (I don’t want it getting caught on sweaters, or cutting through the latex gloves I wear at work)
5) Please not a solitaire, I dunno why but that diamond looks so lonely all alone on that plain band
He then asked if I was fine with gemstones besides diamonds?
5) I encouraged a bit of color besides the clear sparkle of the diamond.
After he picked one out, he sent me to various web sites to pick out my favorites, and the ring I picked as my favorite was what he had already chosen. So I guess we both picked it out? Now I know other bees have my style of ring as well (from James Allen), but I love my ring quite a lot and know that it’s special and just for me. I’m much more excited about this little ring than I was expecting to be. It sparkles so nicely and I catch myself looking at it all the time. I REALLY did not expect to care about my ring this much! I love the sapphires, the diamondlooks like a star set against the night sky with this setting. In my head I think I accidentally named it “Starry Night”, lol I haven’t confessed this accidental naming to him yet.
