Dear Fiance proposed on vacation and we went ring shopping when we got home. I am a surprise ruiner so he didn’t want to ask me questions beforehand and he was also afraid to pick something out because he knows how particular I am with clothing and accessories.

I remember I kep telling him that he didn’t have to waste his money on a ring, I’m secure enough in our relationship to not wear one, blah blah blah, but I know it’s an ego thing for the man and he was really excited to put a ring on it.

We got back from vacation on Memorial Day, so all the local independent jewelers were closed. We went to the mall just to look to get an idea of what I might like (I don’t wear rings, I’m a necklace lady). We went to Na Hoku and I tried on a rose gold and pale amethyst ring and decided that was it.

My Fiance picked it out with the help of my best friend.  According to her, he created it 100%.  I love that he “made” it specifically for me.

Fiance and i went shopping a few times to see what we both liked. I eventually gave him pretty specific guidelines. He went to a completely different store and chose my ring himself.

Its a 1 carat radiant solitaire. I love that he chose it himself and completely surprised me.  My guidelines were square cut solitaire, i told him the range for diamond quality to make sure he didnt get ripped off on the stone and the rest he chose himself.

@bunnyharriet:  I suppose so!  I honestly haven’t gone too much into it with him…he had to order the setting from a jeweler (they don’t hold it in stock) and then he picked out the stone.  Would that be considered semi-custom?

My original ring SO picked out all by himself and it was a beauty till a bad expiriance with a jeweler caused us to return it. The new one is a complete custom by SO himself which I LOVE!!! I did try and give little hints about what i love but he already knew so it wasnt hard for him to create something perfect for us.

we chose the ring together! We got engaged first (with a small token ring) and then went to choose the “real” ring, which I know is unusal in the states but not so much here in the UK! I did choose it online while we were still on holiday ๐Ÿ™‚

I told Fiance i wanted an antique scroll band, with an oval centre stone and side stone clusters on each side. He got me this:

Princess cut, split shank with a pave band. I wouldn’t trade it for the world. It is so me, and I love that it ended up being a surprise ๐Ÿ™‚

SO picked it out by himself.  I had originally told him that I just wanted a solitare, but he decided to go rouge when buying the ring.  I don’t think it’s anything I would have ever picked out for myself (setting wise), but I absolutely love it!  I guess maybe he knows me better than I know myself Smile
