All I told my fiance was that I wanted emerald cut and a thin band since my hands are little. He had my ring custom made at a local jeweler in town. You can’t see in the picture, but the jeweler made extra cuts in it along the bottom so that it would sparkle more.. it looks like someone poured glitter in the middle of the diamond. It’s F color (not sure if I wrote that correctly). I was floored when he gave it to me. It’s absolutely perfect for me. I never imagined I’d like a ring so much but I’m in love with it. With the center diamond and the diamonds in the band, it’s all together about 1.15 carat. The wedding band will be an exact replica of the ering band with the diamonds all along the front half.

Fiance picked mine out 100% by himself (and by 100%, I mean witha LOT of help from the jeweler,,,)

@bijou214:  wow that rock looks big and so well cut! Must have been pricey! I don’t understand how people afford all these big rocks. I’m hanging out over here with my .5 carat…

@MargotAlyse:  That’s beautiful! And looks like a ring the woman I’m having design mine has in her shop! Where’s it from?

My fiance’s mother passed about 8 months before I met him, but she left her wedding set to him. It’s beautiful and was custom made for her and I’m incredibly grateful and honored to wear it. However, our styles are incredibly different and my fingers are more petite than hers. So fiance and I are designing a new engagement ring for me and using her center stone (which is a long-time family heirloom and belonged to his great grandmother) in the new design. I’ll be wearing her wedding band on my thumb daily to keep her close, though. It fits perfectly already.

    Here’s the current ring.

And a picture with the band, which I’ll wear on my thumb.

And here are the little drawings I’ve got so far of what the new ring will look like. We’re using the .8ct round center stone from my current ring and 6 .1ct champagne diamonds I have to accent and they’ll be on a sort of siwrly flowery patterned band. I can’t wait! (The right side was my original drawing and the left side is a scale drawing where the band and diamonds are the actual size.)

@MargotAlyse:  I love blue topaz! Your ring is gorgeous πŸ™‚

Fiance and I went to look at rings, and I tried on some princess-cut solitaires, so he chose between two – a half-eternity pave solitaire (below) and a more classic plain solitaire.

I guess the man likes the bling, because he got the one with the extra sparkle.

All I told Fiance was that I wanted an oval, and I didn’t want a white diamond. The proposal itself was a surprise, and he showed up with this champagne diamond stunner. Made me weak in the knees πŸ™‚

I never told him what I wanted (white gold, round cut, something simple). Somehow he just knew and picked the perfect ring. I’m lucky πŸ™‚

I sent tons of pictures of rings I liked, and just knew I was getting a cushion cut center with a 2mm band. Little did I know my love had custom designed this gorgeous ring using his grandmothers diamonds on the side and picking the asscher center because it “made it unique”. He couldn’t have picked a more perfect ring πŸ™‚

I have given my SO a picture of the band I want, type of metal (white gold) & told him I would like a 1.35ct cushion and have chosen the jeweller πŸ™‚

Here it is below (with a princess)

He gets to chose (with the help of the jeweller) the specific diamond – as long as it is 1.35cts

I cant wait to finally get it :):)
