I know there are a ton of dress threads, but how about one for the “simple” dress? Seeing so many of the gorgeous and glam dresses on here fuels the dress regret I’ve had, that I didn’t get something more beading or intricate lace or luscious trains and skirts. I have to keep telling myself that there is a reason I loved wearing my “simple” dress and how I was overpowered by the blingier ones I tried on.
So, ladies, let’s show off our “simpler” gowns (less blingy or complicated). I’m not going to set a price range or anything.
Here’s mine, a David’s Bridal that only required a hem and the simplest bustle ever, according to my seamstress:
Bustle and hemming hadn’t been done yet.

I think this dress really shows off your body! People are going to be looking up at your face and your beautiful skin tone instead of down at a detailed dress!
I don’t have a dress yet, but I think simple is better! I realized that when I tried dresses with bling or intrciate details that your eyes autmatically went to those details instead of looking at me. I want people to think “I” looked beautiful on my wedding day not that “my dress” did. 🙂

That’s so funny, because your dress was one of my inspiration dresses! Here’s mine (hasn’t been altered yet) – People have referred to mine as a “simple dress” although I’m not sure what that term means to them. I just know this is the type of dress I had pictured myself in when I first began to look at dresses., and I love it 🙂

@Carley7.6.13: and you make a good point about the bride being the focus rather than just the dress. Besides, simple dresses allow for more intricate jewelry.

Here’s mine. The only detail it really has is buttons from the top to the bottom of the train so I guess it counts as a simple dress. I’m borrowing Fi’s grandmother’s jewelry that is extremely blingy, so that’ll be my bling on my wedding day.

@emilikins: I saw this dress and LOVED it. I love it even more seeing it on someone!

Here’s my super simple dress. I have a lace bolero over it, but if it wasn’t on, it would be even simpler!

I think we forget that most of us will be wearing jewelry and holding a bouquet. They will look great once everything is put together.
@DizzyFairy: I really like yours – a lot more than many of the other ruffly/poofy/pickup dresses I see – no reason for a sad face 🙂

I think mine qualifies as simple in the front…?
