i just decided that my fiance and I would jump the broom… i don’t think either of our parents did it but we feel it will be a nice way to honor the past.

We had my husband’s aunt make our broom. Apparently they went everywhere to find a minature sized broom and couldn’t find any. So she improvised and used a full size broom and decorated it with the bag of dollar tree flowers I had purchased a long time ago. I think it turned out beautiful. I really wished my professional photographers would have gotten close up shots of us jumping, but they didn’t ๐Ÿ™

We jumped! We had a drummer on the Djembe as the history of the tradition was shared with our guests and as we jumped and to lead our guest and party out to the reception. I customize wedding brooms [content moderated for self-promo] one of my brides maids helped to decorate mine-I was a hands-on bride. For our paper anniversary, I had an artist sketch a portrait of the picture below. My husband will see the portrait at Christmas

slc201329:  Nice broom! It is so tough to get that action shout. We only have the one picture, but thankfully it is a good one.

Breauxlin:  thank you so much, don’t forget to post your pix of jumping the broom.  I’m preserving our broom for our children’s weddings.  That’s why I had our wedding broom designed in white lace, white silk roses & bling.

I want to jump the broom at my wedding next year. Was anyone afraid they would trip trying to jump the broom in heels and a wedding dress? thats the only reason im not 100%. Would love to hear from brides that already did it. was it a concern? was it easy? did someone hold your train?

beautyofdreams:  I was nervous but it was something that if my ancestors could do; I was all in. Besides, now it’s a family tradition.  Our colors were neutral, silk white roses, white lace, silver lace & a touch of bling (a bride have to have her bling).
