blankenshiptobe:  thank you ๐Ÿ™‚  sometimes i wish i had something more traditional looking because i don’t think people realize it’s an engagement ring just by looking at it. but then i’m glad i have this for the same reason…and because i’ll have a traditional ring soon so i don’t want two of the same thing.

We switched the wedding band and engagement ring, so I am currently on this ring (pink gold) and the rock is to come (!!). This ring will probably go on my right hand once the other is in place.

Here is a picture of my SECOND promise ring (have been with my SO for four years, got my first one early in our relationship, it was beautiful but delicate & kind flimsy).  This opal ring with diomand halo is currently on my finger, but hoping for an ENGAGEMENT ring early next year (:

PS excuse my fingernail polish, had just painted them also my ring needs cleaned!

First promise Ring he gave me on our 1yr, second “upgraded” promise ring (because it was an option and the first one had issues among other things lol), and finally my e-ring

BrideAddict92:  My Engagement Ring. My promise ring is in its box which I feel kind of bad about but I’m not a two rings at once kind of person.

I really never saw the point of a promise ring, it just seems so childish to me. I’d rather have a tiny little engagement ring (heck, no ring) and everything that comes with a proposal and engagement, than a promise ring (If those were the two options).

i feel like a promise ring is just a way to get a woman to shut up……maybe I’m wrong?

BookTea:  I never had a promise ring either — when the topic came up Fiance (then SO) said that he didn’t really “get” them because he saw an engagement ring as a “promise to marry” and so a promise ring would be a “promise to promise to marry” which seemed silly to him.

I mainly didn’t want one because I wanted him to save the money to put it towards my e-ring. Since I’m a one-ring-at-a-time girl, once engaged, I’d never again wear the promise ring, so putting all my eggs in the e-ring basket made more sense.

I’m happy for other women that want them, get them, and enjoy them, but they’re definitely not for everyone!

TheGridMonster:

+1 I had a “promise ring” in high school.

I have never heard of anyone older than 18 wearing a promise ring until I came to WB.

That said, I am always happy to look at gorgeous rings no matter what they signify.

SO gave me my promise ring two years ago as an early Christmas present in October (3 months into our relationship) because he kinda sucks at being patient, ha. His name is engraved on the side shown, and our anniversary date is on the other side. He has one too (with my name on it, obv ๐Ÿ™‚ but it’s way too big for him. It flew into a dumpster when he was throwing out the trash once, so he just doesn’t wear it anymore.

I’m planning on wearing it on my right hand when I get my e-ring!
