I don’t think you need a decoy ring.  Frankly, I never understood the concept; I just turn my ring around.

I don’t gave my ring yet but instead of a “decoy” persay, I will probably just get an extra band ( besides me ering and wedding band) that I will wear when needed. porbably not often but probably when Im out working in the garden or things like that. πŸ™‚

@Dub D:  Same here. When I travel, esp on subways, just turn the ring around. Who wants to steal a thin gold band?

Here is my real set (on my ring finger), next to my “stand in” set, which is shown here on my pinky finger so you can see them in the same pic.  I’ve used other stand-in rings in the past, but I think this set looks the most like my actual set.

Top one is fake (1ct cz soilitaire, 6 prong, plain pand)

Bottom one is my lovely (.90 brilliant, 4 prong, channel band)

I feel more confortable wearing a fake one sometimes. For my honeymoon I will be taking a 3 week roadtrip sleeping any place we find, and i can’t imagine leaving it left behind or stolen!

@Dub D:  @RoundSolitaire:

the concept of the decoy ring is for two reasons:

1. to wear something if you travel to a country where you might feel unsafe,  so you can leave your expensive ring at home in a safe.

2. to wear when your good ring is at the jeweler. mine has been at the jeweler for one reason or another four times! so I definitely loved having a temp CZ ring to wear in its place, esp before I was married.

it’s not like these bees are taking off their diamond rings and putting on CZ rings right before getting on the subway or anything.

My real ring is in the process of being custom made right now (boo for waiting), but I happened upon a great decoy ring in the mall. It was only $20, but its really similar structurally. The center stone in this one is a little smaller than my moissy, and the gallery isn’t as intricate. Still, it is much closer than I ever thought I would happen upon, and now I have something to wear while I wait. It’s in the pictures below. Forgive the terrible camera phone quality.

@janie-janie:  I totally agree with this. It is nice to have something to wear in the mean time.

stand in:

I will enjoy having it on vacation. That way I know my ring is safe at home, not getting beat up in the sand, possibly pulled off in the ocean, all those good things.

You should check on e-bay. They’ve got a ton of different styles. I got mine from cosmique_outlet. It was $16 with shipping and it got to be pretty quick, under a week. Good luck shopping. πŸ™‚

@janie-janie:  I guess I just don’t have a problem with not wearing my ring if I travel or if it’s in the jeweler’s.

My real set is first and my travel set is second…as you can see I gained weight since the last time I traveled (muffin top) lol…I have my rings insured now for travel so I just wear my real set and these pretty girls just chill out in my jewelry box πŸ™
