this is so refreshing to hear!!!  I encourage my patients, especially first time moms, to give time a little time to work. Going over 41 weeks in a healthy patient is fine. Usually I get moms begging and crying for an induction starting at 37 weeks, it is so frustrating. I cant wait to work in an area where the patients advocate for their health not their convenience. As a side note, a wonderful midwife I worked with delivered all three of her healthy sons at 42 weeks and 6 days Gestation with no problems. Women have had babies without clocks and timers for millions of years, it’s fairly modern (and stupid) to put everyone on such a tight schedule.

@mtnhoney:  thanks for checking on me! 41+5 and still pregnant. I had a foley bulb inserted on Tuesday and removed Wednesday. I have had 2 acupuncture treatment this week. I just drank a castor oil cocktail prescribed by my midwife and am halfway through an herbal induction. I am hoping to give birth In a freestanding birth center, but need to be in labor by Sunday (42 weeks) or I will get transferred to a hospital with ob care. The castor oil was so gross – did I read you did it for three days? You are a strong mama!! Anyway I know this will all be worth it once I am holding my darling baby, I just hope that’s sooner than later!
