Ours was $400 and it served 100 people although we only had 75 guests so we had the top layer leftover. The bottom layer was almond cake with chocolate cream filling and the top and middle layer were coconut cake with strawberry vanilla mousse filling. The cake was absolutely delicious! We got a lot of compliments on it so the caker baker was a great find!

@midwestgirl80:  Right?! so crazy. hahaha after I found that I image searched literally every picture of my wedding to see if anything else like that was out there. After searching for like 4 hours DH took my computer away and lightly suggested I may be a little psychotic. Good call.

We ordered ours this week! We only have 15 guests, but I still wanted a traditional tiered cake if we could get one that small. I know. I’m crazy.

Our cake will be two layers –a 6″ german chocolate on the bottom and a 4″ key lime coconut on the top. I had two cakes for inspiration – one with a sweet ruffle bottom, the other a more sleek, modern top, and a pink sugar flower in the middle. Here’s a sad photoshop I did putting the two together.

oh yeah — Our cake is $189, feeds 20 (although we only have 15)!

Sorry for the huge photo. Our mini cupcakes were $300 for 300, including delivery, set up and stand rental.

We cut pie (around $300 for 35 pies) instead of cake. We didn’t have dessert, just pie and cupcakes. They were terribly delicious – I am embarassed to say how many cupcakes I ate!

We are going with this one, 3 teirs, 3 different flavors (the bottom 3). We have picked 2 of the 3 flavors… one being peach velvet w/ peach shnnaps, then a villina w/ shnnaps filling. The top teir we are undecided about. We have to provide the “bling” which will be gold and of course the cake topper.

Note: Our colors are peach and gold!

We have done a tasting, but haven’t decided on flavors – there are 101 to choose from! We are doing a 3 tier, 1 1/2 sheet cakes and a small round groomscake, all to feed approx 150 people and our quote is $550.00.

Love looking at these cakes, going to have to save this thread!

I changed my mind on the basket cake, love it, but glad we won’t be having a fondant cake.  We are going to do a combination of the strawberry ganache cake and the photo cake.

We were going to do sheet cakes on the side, but we just decided to do away with those and go to another mom and pop baker to get about 5-6 round cakes to have a cake bar – which is amazingly much cheaper than the sheet cakes with my tiered cake baker!  Now just to decide the flavors!!

Some gorgeous cakes on this board! Wanted to chime in and say that I am an at home/professional baker! I made the cake in my avatar and can provide more pics if anyone wants. I can give lots of insight into the industry/pricing…

Since I have no overhead, I charge $1.75 a slice starting price. Most bakeries in my area charge at least double that, so $3.50 a slice, $5 a slice for more boutique places, the most in town being $8 a slice.

Sheet cakes will almost always save you money. Do not pay for more slices than you need. Every single bride I have done a cake for had extra cake. Every single one.

Sugar flowers usally cost just as much, if not more, than fresh flowers. That’s up to you.

Buttercream is worlds less expensive than fondant, and nobody eats fondant. I would suggest finding a baker that can make a smooth sheen on buttercream, it can even then be sprayed with a pearl finish to make it look like fondant. I almost always suggest buttercream.

Happy to give any more insight!

Mine was super expensive compared to most of yall but DH was very specific in what he wanted. For both the wedding cake and the groom cake it was $1500 to feed 250 people. But that price also includes a seperate top layer for our anniversary, a chocolate sheet cake to cut for those guest who wanted thegrooms cake and 10 bride and groom strawberries.

We got our cakes at The Cake Guys in Dallas. My cake has 4 fake tiers and than 1 red velvet tier and 1 funfetti tier.

Here’s my sister’s cake. The bottom layer was tres leches and the 2 other layers were marble. $135 for 80 people (although there was so much leftover it realistically could have fed 100).

Our cake cost $448 and we had 68 guests. The bottom tier was raspberry cheesecake. The middle tier was lemon and the top tier was turtle chocolate.
