*Disclaimer* This is branched off from my previous thread, but that particular thread seems to be having technical issues (at least on my end-I posted in support about it j.i.c), so I figured I’d start another one, with a little more of a focused topic.
What’s your favorite thing about the state you live in? Or your least favorite?

Hmm, ummm, now I look like a dolt, ’cause the other thread seems to be back to normal 🙂

Mexican food and the Atlanta Braves!!

@Wonderwoman217: Cute thread! I live in MA… favorite thing is probably our sports teams and the camaraderie that comes along with that … Go Pats, Sox, Celtics, & Bruins! Also love our close proximity to beaches & oceans 🙂
Least favorite which really comes into play now is OUR WINTERS!

People have manners, you can get sweet tea anywhere, spring comes early and winter is not TOO bad, there’s beaches AND mountains, and it’s basically just the best state ever in life. And the food here is amazing and about a billion great songs have been written about it.

I like the low cost of living in my state…but that’s pretty much all I like. Darling Husband and I (usually) live fairly comfortably off his income alone.
Oh, and we’re two and a half hours away from New Orleans.

The huge diversity and having everything at my fingertips.
Plus I love the fact that the beach and mountains are easily accessible.
Things I dislike – WAY too many people and the traffic.

I live in Canada, so I’m going to comment on the best part about my province – Alberta!
The Rocky Mountains and the farmland. I love both!!!
But I’m originally from British Columbia (Vancouver) and the best parts about that is the ocean, the forests, and the multiculturalism!

Wild, Wonderful West Virginia! My favorite things are the mountain views, the whitewater rafting, the historical significance of my home county and the people!
JFK once spoke in West Virginia and said:
“The sun may not always shine in West Virginia, but the people always do.”
My least favorite thing about my state is the bad rap that it gets. We are not all backwood, iscestous rednecks that others seem to think we are. My little state has a lot to offer!

CAVES! Seriously, we have kickass caverns! Sweet tea, mountains, living in the center of several mountain chains and rarely getting a blizzard or hurrican through here (unless it comes up the Valley, then we’re screwed royally, lol)
We get all four seasons and the people are usually pretty nice.

@ohheavenlyday: YES! On the sweet tea, that is! Ugh, when we lived in Denver, and asked for sweet tea, we got looked at like we had three heads!
@yellowhammerlady: I do like the low cost of living, too. I think it’s a southern states thing.

The gorgeous Beaches! I love that the Peir is where I got engaged, had our first date and countless romantic and gorgeous memories. I love the “coastal” life without the sharks or hurricanes! LOL
And that the highway speed is 70mph. I am always amazed when I am driving through other states and its still 55 or 65. I got places to go people!!! hehe

My dad likes to tell people the story about how when we were younger and would go on vacation, my sister and I would get so frustrated if we couldn’t get sweet tea, and we told my dad we were never moving north of sweet tea. LOL.

I love DC because there is so much free entertainment/stuff to do, a functional (mostly) reliable public transit system, TONS of amazing food options, lots of diverse neighborhoods, and just because it’s our first “home” together. 🙂

Very low cost of living, good number of professional jobs, relatively insulated… oh and the weather always keeps you guessing. (25″ of snow last week and in the 70’s this week — thank you Oklahoma!)
