I understand that a lot of wedding venue’s require vendors to have insurance. Is anyone using friends as vendors? and if so, how are you insuring them?
Our venue requires us and all vendors to have for general liability and personal fire (its a museum). We are having some of our wedding guests help us out to save cost. We have a friend djing, another as the MC, and we will be using our speakers, a friend to photograph, and a friend play the ceremony music. I told this to our venue and they told me everyone has to have insurance, non-negotiable and I should add them on my policy.
I called the insurance company our vendor recommended and they told me that each person will need a separate policy – $300 a policy – that’s $1200! They cannot add them to my policy.
I’d like to hear if anyone has dealt with this. I’ve called three insurance companies, and the only one that knows what I am talking about is the one our venue recommended to me.
