Nah, you can’t lump all conservatives together.  I know a TON of fiscal conservatives, social liberals who are still active in campaigning for particular issues, like the ones you listed.  They don’t all vote conservatively.

I am just saddened by how backwards the country has been moving! I live in Kansas, and it’s really bad here.

I am hoping its just a last grab by the extreme right because they know what they say and do is absolutely awful.  Its simply not acceptable for the rest of the population.  The problem is that we’re all too lazy to work within the system (ie vote, create policy) to push them out.  So really, it’s our problem too.

I am truly terrified of the things conservative politicians can say and STILL be supported most conservatives I know.

It makes me want to leave the country.

It’s such a pet peeve to me that people say liberals believe in Big Government, whereas conservatives support personal freedoms. I support government where government should be: on a social scale where it can support programs and initiatives that benefit everyone, not where it shouldn’t be: our bedrooms, our doctor’s offices, our marriages, and our bodies.

I feel like religion has really put a damper on our growth as a country (not knocking religion in general, just those extremists on both ends of the spectrum). I literally had a conversation with my friend’s parents, her dad is a pastor, and they said that “Muslims are invading our school systems and trying to lure our children away from the light,” “Muslims should be forced to leave this country,” “If Bush were able to be reelected I would vote for him tomorrow,” among other things. First of all, one of the main reasons we’re in this economic mess is because Bush was a puppet and his powerful friends were the ones pulling the strings. Second, this country was founded by people escaping religious persecution. To kick someone out of the country purely because their beliefs don’t coincide with yours is ludicrous.

Also, I believe that some people with very strong beliefs are influencing the masses (AKA sheep) and spreading ignorance like the plague. All I want to do is tell them to actually think about what they say before they say it, and WHAT GIVES THEM THE RIGHT TO DICTATE HOW ANOTHER PERSON LIVES THEIR LIFE?

End rant. Lol

@anemonie:  Isn’t it such an oxymoron to state that you believe in small government, but then you want to legislate what goes on in people’s sex lives?  It’s like, WTF?  Do you even HEAR yourself speak??

@eimajleigh:  And the quote was just hysterical.  I can’t believe people didn’t just laugh in his face.

I am a fiscal conservative (not the kind that didn’t want to raise the debt ceiling, that’s a stupid conservative) but socially very liberal. What upsets me the most about the state of our country is that we have morons running for office. I’m all about a good conservative vs. liberal debate but some of the conservatives seem to have stopped their education in kindergarten because “sharing is caring” is COMMUNISM AND SOCIALISM. And it’s appalling how many ladies are supporting these men who want to take away their rights. *facepalm*
