OH YEAH WE CAN GET MARRIED NOW!
We went and filled out our marriage license this morning (well the lady typed all of our info in for us, yay lol), went back to groomy’s home, and had his sister take photos of us w/our license. I don’t have any pictures because they’re on my SIL’s camera. She’s going to edit them along w/all of our shower pictures and give us them.
We can get married now. We did the most important thing. We found the guy to marry us awhile ago……now we have the license he’s going to sign and we’ll be married.
MINDBLOWN. I shocked myself by not crying but I need have to kinda fight not crying in the court, LMAO.
39 days!!! Eeep! Can’t wait to get this badboy signed and be married! Had to share with everyone. Who has got their marriage license?!

@SuperDuperBrit: Are you sure it will still be good?? I only ask because my Fiance and I tried to go get our license yesterday and the lady told us that it is only good for 10 days (yesterday was 11!!!) So now we have to wait until a few days before wedding because that’s the next time we are both off work!

@kerri13: Yep! In VA you can get it up to 60 days before the event. If your wedding is set for 61 days out then you’re screwed. But we’re within VA’s time window! 39 days ^_^! They asked us that when we went to get it. They were like the wedding is happening within the next 60 days, correct? YEP!
What state are you in? It’s different for each state. VA also doesn’t require witnesses but some other states do. Make sure ya check into that too!

Awesome! In PA it’s 60 days too, plus a 3-day waiting period. Due to work schedules for FH, we’re going to get ours on Friday — we’re excited too!

I completed our’s online then read that it was no good after 60 days. *sigh* The website could have told me that before, ya know. I was thrilled when I found out that VA didn’t require witnesses because we plan on eloping and I didn’t want to have to find anyone but I would have picked up any bum off the street. LOL

@mrs_erickson: YAY! Congrats on getting yours!!
@kimberlyr22: Woot, it’s a great feeling to get it done. You’ll have to post back and let us know how psyched you are once it’s done! ^_^
@kerri13: It is amazing. It just made things that much more real. I can’t really fully describe it. Soooo excited!

@GearBride: Good luck! I hope your expirience goes as well as ours. We were in and out and only had to sign our names and swear we were who we were and all that jazz. ^_^

Really suprised at all the 60 days! Ours is 30 days, plus a 3 day wait period. So We will go downtown (Urg, hate it there) pay to park, be in the building for at least an hour waiting, fill out all the paperwork then go back 3 days later just to pick it up! Urg!

That stinks. VA has no waiting period. We were the only ones in there when we got there so we were helped right away. Then got our license right away too + a packet of info, SSN name change info, and stuff about if you’re ready to have a baby.
Yep. LOL there was a folic acid pamphlet in our info. Pretty good info =P that the lady did not cover or tell us about. I found that when we went back to groomy’s house.

We are going to do that soon. I’m hoping on FI’s birthday (Sept. 18th) or somewhere around that date if he doesn’t have off work.

We got ours August 17th. It was so surreal for me, after planning for 2 years I finally have the one thing that means more, the license, I got teary eyed when we left city hall with it in our hands, I think Fiance thought I was nuts lol, he didn’t get it lol

@couawilou: It’s a pretty emotionally charged moment!!! I mean, because really if you wanted to get married that was one of three things needed. You need your SO, license, and an officiant. In the State of VA there’s no waiting period so we literally could have walked outside and got married.
That’s big. You can’t do that with centerpieces, LOL yaknow? I mean it’s just SUPER important. It’s huge! Congrats on getting yours! It makes things that much more real, right?
When we walked into the court house my Fiance held my hand and after we had our license and left the court….he goes “now your grandma can only bug us about the violinist now!!”
He was wrong. She asked if he had groomsmen gifts picked out. He does not yet, LMAO. She’s on him!
