An acquaintance of mine passed away today, she was only 28. I grew up with her and went to grade school, junior high, and high school together. We lost touch over the years but she was probably the happiest, kindest, and most life-loving person I have ever met.
She was at a Cubs game on Sunday and choked while eating a hot dog. Her group that she was with did not notice until she was slumped over in her chair. A nurse in the front row tried CPR and she was rushed to the hospital but it was already too late. She had no brain activity left. She was taken off life support and passed away shortly after. I am in complete shock. How quickly your entire life can change within a second. Her poor mother, her poor students (she was a 6th grade teacher at the same junior high we attended together). What a freaky thing.
Sorry to be a downer.

My sincerest of sympathies… I am sorry for you loss.
Life is indeed short and fleeting
You realize that more and more the older you get
(Hits you flat-out when you get to your late 40s and early 50s that is for damn sure… cannot tell you how many people of various ages I’ve seen pass now that I am middle aged… sooooo sad, and depressing)
A hard Lesson to be learned by all of us.
Treat each day as if it was your last… a cliche but a good one
Tell everyone who matters to you that you LOVE them
(( HUGS )) to you.

I’m sorry to hear that =( You’re so right.
A guy i knew only briefly died on the weekend. He’d had a long battle with cancer, the doctors told him he wouldn’t live past January but he held on until this past weekend. I only know him as my work is linked up with a charity and we have been raising funds for his treatments so we weren’t personal friends, but i was really sad when i found out he died, he was only 19 and he was 16 when he was diagnosed so he’d barely lived his life. So sad for his family. =(

Hot dogs are evil. That’s the second person I know of who has died choking on one. So sad. I will never feed my children hot dogs…

@Cory_loves_this_girl: Yes, it is all over the news here. The whole town is shocked by such a sudden loss. It’s hard to watch the interviews with her mom who I see around often. She said her organs were donated, including her heart who went to a 14-year old girl. Around the same age of the students she taught
