My gyno said that can be related to the kind of lube that you use. She said the flavored ones tend to be stickier, which creates more friction in your lady parts and can cause some bleeding. We switched to the JO lube and it never happened again.

I hope that helps…Or your issue is totally not lube-related and you just got to know me a little bit better.

Oh I didn’t even notice when I responded that this was on the pregnancy board! Sorry, I definitely was responding through a never-been-pregnant lens.

After I bled after having sex I called the nurse and she said that if the bleeding happened right after sex and stopped and wasn’t accompanied with cramps, then probably it was just the increased blood flow to the cervix during pregnancy and the blood vessels getting inflammed/irritated during sex. The bleeding stopped and I felt fine so didn’t go in to the doctor.

As it turns out though, when I went to my 20 weeks ultrasound two weeks later, I was diagnosed with placenta previa (when the placenta covers the cervix) so I was placed on pelvic rest for the rest of the pregnancy (no sex or inserting anything that can provoke more bleeding/damage to the placenta) until my placenta moved away.

My bleed was a big gush of bright red blood though.

It sounds like yours, since it was light, is just the first scenario…definitely keep a watch on it though!
