My wedding ceremony is at 2:30pm, so the reception will probably start at 3:30pm. I am wondering if I can get away with just having finger sandwiches, fruit trays, and a cheese board or if I need to have heavier h’orderves??
If I went with h’orderves it would consist of finger sandwiches, fruit trays, cheese board, chicken skewers, swedish meatballs, and spring rolls. Do you think that is too much food/too heavy for a 3:30pm reception?
If I stated light refreshments on the invitation as opposed to h’orderves what would you think? I need help!

i would have h’orderves instead – the reception starts at 3:30, but it’s going to be lasting into the 5 o’clock hour and people are going to start to get hungry – give them something more substantial so they’ll stick around. if you said light refreshements, i’d think exactly what you posted – little sandwiches, fruit & cheese trays.

i would definitely do heavy hors d’oeuvres. if people get hungry, they’ll leave. food keeps people happy and comfortable.

To me, light refreshments = hors d’oeuvres. Either way, I think it would be more of a crowd pleaser to have the heavier hors d’oeuvres, if your budget permits. I do think 3:30pm is still early enough to have lighter fare or just even a cake reception.
