Hello everyone :), I have a bit of a problem i need help with. My reception venue is an open park reserve and has a pavillion, a shelter and plenty trees. It is also equipped with electricity, so I wanted to hang string lights and paper lanterns for decoration, but i just found out im not allowed to hang anything from the trees or pavillion, nor dig holes or put stakes! So now i have no idea on how to put up the paper lanterns 🙁 initially i wanted to put up something like the pics in the links here but i wont be able to. any ideas?

hmm, I’m a bit confused by all of that, but it would seem the only way you could hang them was if it was from a hook or something that had a flat bottom (sort of like a moveable basketball hoop in a driveway vs. one that’s posted into the ground)
You could get really big planters (in resin or plastic so they aren’t so heavy) filled with soil or rocks or even cement with shepherds hooks and hang from that?
Sorry I don’t have more, that’s a tricky one!

1.Use galvanized buckets filled with gravel.Insert long thin bamboo poles from the garden center. You can get them 10 feet tall.
Insert screw eyes into the end of the poles to string the lights from, or hang fishing wire between the poles to hang lanterns.
2.You can also hang lanterns from the individual poles with battery operated lights inside.
3. You could also insert a tall pipe (with holes drilled into the end that will be the top) into an umbrella stand.
4.This is a gorgeous centerpiece but you could adapt it to use outdoors:
These are paper lanterns attached to bamboo rods in a tall narrow vase.
To adapt to your needs you could get an umbrella stand, place the bamboo stakes with lanterns inside a long piece of pipe, and place the pipe into the umbrella stand.

Holy cow Julies1949, I have been going over and over what to do for my 9/17 wedding and I am IN LOVE with these centerpieces. I am so excited about them I can barely work. Where on earth did you find this??? I need major drama/height 25-30 tables in a 100 by 40 tent and this may be exactly what I have been looking for. I had thought about Manzanita but look at this drama……………
