We were talking about our wedding, and fi mentioned it would be cool to get married in the same place we met (a skating rink). I had been thinking the same thing, so I called and spoke with the owner. Weirdly, she said they do 2-3 weddingss a year, so we’re not the only weirdos out there. But since we also want to get married on the day we met (a Sat next year), we’re limited to either 10:30-12:30 or 4:30-6:30 because of their regular sessions. She suggested the morning one because we could come in earlier and set up. So I’m looking for suggestions from people who have done very short wedding receptions, or even morning weddings. Any tips or ideas? Pros or cons?

We had a morning wedding followed by a brunch and it was the best thing ever! Maybe you could do the ceremony at the rink (and even cocktail hour) and then have a brunch reception at a restaurant?

@oneofthesethings: I like this idea!
My issue with short weddings is the expense. A two hour wedding with a meal will often cost close to the same as a five hour wedding with a meal, but there’s so much less fun to be had. Maybe this is mitigated somewhat by having it at a skating rink, which I can’t imagine would be a pricey venue, but if you’re having it catered, it might not be. Plus all the other things you may want which are often a flat fee and not by the hour (though maybe you could negotiate). I LOVE the idea of getting married where you met, but I think maybe trying to cram the entire thing into two hours might be a bit much.
