So I am trying to do cheap alternatives on a tight budget, but one thing I don’t want to do is have plastic tablecloths. To rent 13 72″ round tablecloths and 2 long is about $230, to buy them all wholesale is about $150. Is it just me or does that just seem a little expensive to rent? That is a lot of money for just needing them for one night. Do you think making them would be more expensive? I have 3 months, I don’t mind the extra work, but I AM trying to save on money. Same with napkins. Is there somewhere I can find a better deal purchasing in bulk or do I just have to suck it up and pay that much for them?

ahough2: The table linens that you rent are usually a higher quality than the ones we buy. They have to be to stand up to repeated laundering.
Remember that you can sell your linens after the wedding to recoup some of your costs. There are always ads on http://www.adhuntr.com which lists all ads on all Craigslist sites.
Some sites:

I honestly don’t think you will save money buying them yourself. Cloths for round tables usually have to be seamed to get the width you need so you need two lengths of fabric for each cloth.
Is there a reason you are using 72″ cloths? What color are you looking for? What color and how many napkins do you need?

ahough2: Ah. I was going to suggest the 72″ cloths might be more expensive because they are rarely used.
