I love the simplicity of white linens personally. What about DIYing your own runners for a splash of colour? You could even get sheets or something in good condition at a thrift shop for a great deal, cut and sew them into runners, it would be cheap and simple. What are your centrepieces?

@beeloved: Well then that leaves you A LOT of wiggle room! That’s a good thing! What’s the vibe you’re going for? What’s the reception area like?

We used plain white linens, but then barn board as a “runner” for our sort of vintage elegance vibe.

I’m using white tablecloths but I’ve bought colored satin runners..in eggplant, sage green, and orange to go on the tables to add color. I didn’t want to do colored tablecloths because I thought that would be too much. I think the runners add just enough ‘pop’ of color

Buy some runners that go with the theme/color of your wedding. You can also decorte the chairs with sashes in a coordinated color as well. This will make it not so blah white.

i’m just running colored ribbon over the tables. it adds color and is really inexpensive! also, you could try making your own napkins, but it’s really a pain to do all that edging!

You should check out prices for renting runners. Our venue provides white tablecloths too, but to upgrade them to color is $40 for each table. We can rent blue runners, though, for $2.50 each. It’s quite a better deal, and it still gives a splash of color! 🙂

I would consider sticking to the white table cloths and renting coloured napkins that go with your colour theme.  this adds a big pop of colour.  if you have money, you could rent a table cloth in the colour of everyone’s napkin for your headtable and have white napkins against the coloured table cloth for contrast.

@kitzy: I’m doing the same! I think it adds just enough color while still keeping the room bright. Also, I like that it’s a little unusual and unique.
