I’m going to the desert this thanksgiving and my lips dry out like crazy.
I’m looking for recommendations on a lip color that actually moisturizes – preferrably drugstore brands (not department store expensive brands). I prefer sheer colors but at this point I’ll try anything.
I’ve already tried Burt’s Bees and Neutrogena’s tinted lip balm. I love cover girl’s LipSlicks tinted balm, but they don’t moisturize worht a damn.

This Carmex Moisture Plus stuff is amaaazing! The color is actually pretty good too, I have used the sheer peach and the sheer pink. The pink was a little too pink for my liking, but I absolutely love the peach. It’s a good amount of color, not too much, but not too sheer. It smells SOOOO good and really moisturizes. And it’s cheap too! I think I found it at Walgreens for like $2.99 or something plus I used a coupon.

You could always use a moisturizer first as a base and then put the lip color on top.

@Nicoley1985: I tried that and needed more color. but now I see they have added plum! I am so going to try it!
@bells: I would, but I love to keep things super simple. one step, because I’m probably going to be whipping it out and re-applying like 100x per day.
I wish my lips were a decent color so I could just wear lip balm only! my lips are so pale, they’re practically albino, they look weird without some kind of lip color on them.

Victoria’s Secret lip glosses are moisturizing, good choice of colors, and smell/taste yummy–they’re around $7 (similar to drug store price). I have yet to find a lipgloss/color at an actual drug store that has good color and is moisturizing. My go-to is Mac lipglasses, which are around $14 but last forever.

@Pomapoo: I’ve been thinking about biting the bullet and trying MAC!

I use vaseline lip therapy in rose tint! It’s lush, really soothes and moisturises and the colour is rosey, sheer and not too over the top. Looks like a gloss really but better staying power! It’s in a small tin too so you can carry it anywhere. Definately my essential.
