Vaseline! It’s cheap and it works really well to moisturize your lips.  I usually wear it mostly at night while I sleep.  I know a cheap at home exfoliant you can do before you put the vaseline on is sugar and water.

@mandb122: Hahaha that is pretty much the ingredients in the Smashbox product, so if the OP is looking to save money, its a great suggestion!

I second @mandb122: suggestion. Vaseline is an excellant moisturizer for you lips and it is inexpensive. Just a little goes a long way too.

Everyone in my family swears by the blue blistex!  It is awesome.

I use Blistex Silk ‘n Shine by day, and at night before bed I take a soft toothbrush and very gently exfoliate my lips. I used to be the queen of dried-out lips no matter what the season, but now as long as I remember the toothbrush trick, mine are incredibly soft!

@katiedee: It’s a little annoying to put on, since it is not a stick but in a little pot.  But it is the best!  Also I figured out the name – Lip Medex.  I’ve heard the DCT one is good too, but I’ve never used it.

I’ve tried EVERYTHING.  The winter is always so harsh on my lips.  I absolutely hate it.  Hopefully some of these suggestions will work because I can’t stand looking at my lips anymore.

Vaseline! My lips used to always peel and chap, especially in the winter. I would just keep reapplying Blistex but it wouldn’t help, only hide some of the flakiness. I started applying vaseline after showering and immediatly exfoliate with a soft toothbrush with the vaseline still on. My lips have been sooo much better and now I can wear lipstick without looking ridiculous!

For something more gentle, I use the lip scrub by lush- http://www.lushusa.com/shop/results/. It’s mostly sugar and scrubs away the smaller flakes. It also tastes like bubble gum 🙂 Follow with a lip balm.

DCT is really awesome because it sort of tingles when you put it on :). Fiance used to use it when he was outside all summer for marching band. I usually put Aquaphor on my lips at night, and that seems to work well.

Aquaphor is the best, hands down. It’s usually in the lotion aisle though, at least at my Walgreens, but they make purse size tubes. I’m obsessed
