soon2bemrsjewell :  I rarely wear lipstick also, but when I do – I do a lip stain instead. I can’t stand having to reapply all of the time. It also feels a lot lighter than most lipsticks to me as well, so maybe that would be a better option for you!

I never wear lipstick, and my MAU put me in a dark color on my trial that was terrible. Somehow it seems to made my cheeks looks very large and chipmunky.

Anyways, she suggested I find a lipstick I like, more nude if preferred, for the day, so I went with a friend to Sephora and we spent ages looking at all of the lipsticks. In the end, I went with a pretty nude from Urban Decay. It’s almost my lip color, with a little extra blush to it. Wearing it does not feel weird or Joker-like, but I think it helps add a little polish.

I’d suggest the same – take a friend who is honest and knows your style, and just test every lip color (inside of wrist is closed to your face AND germ-free).

Good luck!

I’m struggling with lipstick as well. I never wear it, my lips are really dry so it always looks bad & if I wear dark lipstick it makes my nose look bigger! Lol

Hey,

Here’s what I bought for my wedding. I rarely wear lip colour as well but I didnt want lipgloss either. I purchased this long wear matte lipstick from Sephora (and it really does last), not all day but its durable. You can touch it up or add a tad of lipgloss if it’s too drying. Price is really good. They do have  a couple that are shimmer finish as well.

I choose a colour a bit pinker than my natural lip colour as I want the focus to be my eyes. I would reccomend trying out your lipstick a couple times before hand to know how it wears and looks in different lighting. Tha packaging is very thin and slender and easy to pop into a bridal clutch or purse.

soon2bemrsjewell :

I really struggled with this too!! I wear makeup daily, but if I wear lipstick, it is usually lip liner with Aquafor (they mix for a natural color), a neutral gloss …lol…or I wear just Aquafor! I don’t know why, but while I wear full eye makeup, I always feel weird with lip color…my first makeup trial was an overall disaster – I hated EVERYTHING …my second makeup trial, I LOVED the eyes, the face coverage, pretty much everything…except the lipstick…I changed to something more along the lines of a color I would wear (neutral color)…I regretted it…the day of my wedding, I decided – the makeup artist did an amazing job on the rest of my face – just trust her on the lips and go with what she advises…I am SO glad I did – while it felt weird at the time, now that I look back on my pictures – it looks GREAT!! I would ONLY recommend going the trust route if you liked everything else the MUA did!!

I have a PASSIONNNNNN for lipstick lol. If you don’t wear it frequently, you’ll want something that feels comfortable and you don’t have to think about reapplying often, so for that I’d suggest either a stain or a liquid lipstick. My absolute all time favoite is Sephora Cream Lip Stain – it dries to a matte finish and stays on FOREVER – you may just need a touch up on the inside of the lips after dinner.

With anything, I’d suggest trying it beforehand so you know if you’ll be comfortable with it on my lips. I find the Sephora stuff to be sufficiently comfortable, but then again, I wear lipstick all the time.

For what it’s worth, Kylie’s lip kits actually have incredible staying power too.

Maybelline is cheap compared to many lipstick lines out there and they last for a LONG time, especially the matte ones. They have so many colors and they go on so nicely!

Does any one have any reccomendations for a good color from clinque?  I’m allergic to basically everything except for clinque.

I’m planning to wear Tom Ford lipstick in Warm Sable on my wedding day. Give it a try it’s a really beautiful gold x beige x nudish x color. I think it helps enhances the eye makeup.

I think finding your perfect nude color would be a good start.  Depending on your skin tone I would start with some type of mauve and see how you feel about it.  If you do not preter mauve hues I’d check out some peach nudes.

I have not seen anyone throw this out there so I will…  There is a green FROG PRINCE lipstick that changes tone to your best nude.  Everyone I’ve talked to really likes that lipstick because it is pretty and easy.

Essence brand on the Ulta website also has a ‘sheer’ line of lipsticks.  Revlon also has ‘sheer’ lipsticks in their lustrous lipstick line.  Burts Bees also makes lipsticks now which are supposed to me more ‘sheer’ and people seem to like them.

I wore Nars Audacious Lipstick in the shade Anita, with Nars Chelsea girl lipgloss on top.  It’s mostly a nude/pink neutral that I’m still loving for day to day after the wedding.
