List of everything you need for a wedding?

1. A marriage license

2. A willing participant

3. An officiant/witnesses (depending on location)

 

That should be everything you NEED for a wedding, haha! Everything else is just extra. BUT for the extra (since that’s why we’re all here, isn’t it?)- I found this checklist helpful: https://www.realsimple.com/weddings/weddings-planning/wedding-planning-checklist

Keep in mind that you can build your own checklist based on the things you want to include/exclude too. I have a massive wedding google doc that I’m keeping everything in!

Hmm… that’s a lot of stuff, but…

Budget

– Total wedding budget

– Budget for each of the areas listed below

– 5-10% contingency budget for overages should be set aside

 

Guest List

– Full list of family/friends and correct addresses from BOTH sides

– Request potential dietary restrictions/allergies

– Provide options for dinner on RSVP card (steak or chicken/etc)

– Consider blocking book of rooms for out of town guests

 

Vendors

– Invitations (don’t forget postage in the budget)

– Wedding Website (optional)

– DJ/Band

– Officiant

– Venue/Caterer

– Rentals (linens/chairs/etc)

– Floral (bouqets/bouts/centrepieces)

– Wedding Planner (optional)

 

Attire

– Bride’s Dress

– Bride’s Shoes

– Brides’ Accessories (veil, jewelry, etc)

– Groom’s suit (usually comes with all the extras if you rent)

 

Bridal Party

– MOH/Bridesmaids

– MOH/Bridesmaids Outfits (dress/shoes/accessories)

– BM/Groomsman outfits (usually comes with all the extras if you rent)

– Bridal party thank you gifts

 

Events

– Rehearsal Dinner

– Bridal Shower (you don’t organize but will have to provide the guest list)

– Bachelorette (you don’t organize but will have to provide the guest list)

– Engagement party (you shouldn’t host but will have to provide the guest list)

 

Day Of

– Timeline

– Vendor contacts

– Wedding license

 

Photographer

– List of desired photos (be specific)

– List of areas to take photos

leelee93 :  My only other suggestion outside the list is to make sure you budget for things you want that may not be on the basic list that I forgot about.

Things like a guestbook, seating chart, any signage you’d need for the venue, extra things for your BMs (I got mine all matching robes for pics and I paid for them), makeup artist, extra decor items…

All of it added up to at least 7k when I took a look back at our budget. The little things, don’t forget them!
