Hmm, let’s see how many I can think of…

  • Grand Entrance
  • First dance
  • Father/daughter dance
  • Mother/son dance
  • Cake cutting
  • Bouquet toss
  • Garter toss

I’m probably forgetting a lot.

Umm, and any songs you want during the ceremony, but I think that depends on what kind of ceremony.

For me it’s:

Songs playing while everyone is being seated

Walking down the aisle

Songs for transition into reception room

This is what we had at our iTunes wedding:

  1. Pre-ceremony
  2. Procession of family & wedding party
  3. Bride’s procession
  4. Recessional
  5. Cocktail Hour
  6. Entrance to reception music
  7. Dinner music
  8. Parent/Child Dance
  9. Dance music

If you’re having them and you want specific songs, you’ll also need to include cake cutting, bouquet toss, garter toss and first dance.

We worked really hard on our music, so I’m always up for sharing tips!  That’s what happens when you both attend university for music!

Most of the weddings I’ve been to have had a song play for the cake cutting, but obviously they don’t usually get through the whole song. It’s usually something like “How Sweet It Is,” “Sugar, Sugar” etc.

there are even some weddings where the cake cutting isn’t announced (for photo purposes).  A close friend of mine opted not to have it announce and did it while ppl were dancing.  I mean, ppl saw and came over – but this prevented ppl standing around them to be in the intimate pictures.

I thought about playing “sugar sugar” as a dance song and doing it anyway – what’ll they know, they’ll be shaking it on the dance floor anyway!

I really couldn’t care less if my cake cutting is announced, but I want “Pour Some Sugar On Me” played while we cut. Def Leppard is a guilty pleasure. Laughing

For me, this is a rough list:

  • Prelude (prior to ceremony, guests are seated)
  • Processional (grandmothers, mothers)
  • Bridal party entrance and/or bride entrance (same or different songs)
  • Lighting of the unity candle
  • Recessional
  • Postlude
  • Bridal party entrance to reception
  • Bride and groom entrance to reception
  • First dance
  • Father/daughter dance
  • Mother/son dance
  • Cake cutting
  • Garter toss
  • Bouquet toss

Of course, not all of these will apply to everyone. 🙂
