My friend went to a bridal shower this weekend and showed me the invite. There was an insert that not only listed where they registered, but also their clothing sizes including bra/panty.
This was NOT her bachelorette party. Her and her FI’s Grandma’s were there. My friend said the whole thing was kinda awkward.
Is this common/normal? I’ve never heard of such a thing!!

Only if it was a lingerie shower- which I have heard of but never been to. If it was a normal shower off a registry with china and pots etc, I think that is odd.

I couldn’t imagine doing that with my FI’s conservative family! Talk about awkward.

Um, NO WAY! I’ve never heard of such a thing. Brides often get lingerie as shower gifts but it’s almost always from close friends who know what size they are. I would have been totally weirded out if I received that invite.

never seen cup and undies size listed before….interesting.

Wow I would definitely not want to mail out my bra size to people. I would feel awkward!

Yeah that is kind of strange. I am having a lingerie shower this spring with all my girlfriends, but definitely not family members.

Many people have multiple showers: one with relatives, family friends, etc. for more traditional gifts and one with friends (ie. lingerie shower).
For a lingerie type shower than it is actually pretty common- people have to know your size to buy you things if you don’t want to have to exchange everything.
At a traditional shower, it is unusual to share that intimate info.

I’ve seen it listed only on parties that are specifically designed around that theme — a pretty panty party for example.

It’s also a problem that a lot of stores won’t let you exchange underwear at all, even if it still has the tags on it. I ended up donating some brand new lingerie that I got at my shower to a charity store because the cups on the top didn’t fit, and I couldn’t exchange it because bottoms were part of the set.

A sorority sister of mine did that. Her older sister (also another sorority sister) was getting married and she listed her bra and panty size right on the invite! It was very tacky.

That is pretty typical if it is a lingerie shower (how else will they know what sizes to get) but I’ve never seen it for a traditional shower.

Even if it’s for close friends, they should already know the size. If they don’t, that’s the MoH’s job to get the word out. But putting your sizes on an invite seems sort of tacky. And you don’t know who else is also going to get their hands on that invite once its been mailed out.

I’m used to invitations like that, but at lingerie parties… not showers. If it was a lingerie shower theme then that’s fine. If not, I think it would be weird to get lingerie at a regular shower. Oh well 🙂

ewww I’d be so embarassed if my family got an invite like that.
PS-If any of my BMs are reading this, I do not want a lingerie shower.
