I would say 6 slim, because they don’t make 5x right? My stepdaughter is very thin and tall and at each age the slim sizes were appropriate for her. She’s now 8 years old in a size 8 slim because 7’s are too short. The best thing we found for her was “jeggings”, those really stretchy demin looking cotton pants. So at age 6 she was in a size 6 or small jegging. The only thing is you can’t get flares. I’d say it’s safe to buy 6 slims. You could also try thredup.com? threadup? I can’t remember but it’s like a clothing swap site where you can get pants for cheap so it’s not a big deal if they don’t fit 🙂

My daughter is very thin but has long legs.  I buy her pants at places like The Children’s Place where nearly all their pants have adjustable waists.  They carry adjustable waist jeans and cords.  I buy the size that fits her age and then just cinch the waist.  It was either that or have her in sweatpants all the time.
